Who's going this weekend? I'll be there on Sunday to cheer on the 'PH Britcar Club'! Was gonna bring my tent and camp overnight but a wisdom tooth extraction on Friday has dented those plans somewhat.

As it's been fairly quiet on here since Brands I thought I'd ask who's been preparing, repairing and generally fettling for this weekend? There were a few dramas last time out so how's everyone doing?

Hi,

My first post here on pistonheads. Just to say to the guys who do Britcar what an excellent job you do, its a great show. I went for the first time up at Silverstone and thought the racing was excellent. I am coming to Snetterton at the weekend, so i will keep an eye out for anyone with a pistonhead stickers.

Hello Jay!

Splendid place for your first post! As you say, Britcar is a cracking series and improving all the time as more and more interesting cars enter.

What colour's your Alfa? Will look out for you on Sunday.

Enjoy PistonHeads!

Hi trackside,

Thanks for the welcome, my Alfa is a sort of grey colour and has the factory fitted spoiler so it should be easy to spot.

Roll on the weekend and good luck to any pistonheaders competing over the weekend.

Both days there was some excellent racing. Well done to everyome for a thouroughly enjoyable weekend. I hope Kelly Mercer was truly ok after her shunt up at the top of the circuit. The weather on Saturday must have been a nightmare for the competitors but certainly threw up some interesting results. Well done to the boys in the mini for a solid showing in the Saturday in the S1 race.

Was it just me or did Adam Sharpe, Barry Horne and Callum Lockie just seem to be visibly so much quicker than everyone else around them. That Falcon is an impressive piece of machinery. Bill Binnie looked like he was struggling a bit with it at the end of the Revett.

Yup, top weekend

all things considered, we had a good weekend, finnaly starting to get a handle on tyres (although yet *another* size/compound!).

Sat's race was interesting, with no pit crew, we took an age to swap wheels to wet's, then just decided to stay on them for the duration, on balance this worked out well for us as the 'wets' we have are so hard, we can run all day in the dry on them

Sunday was more problematic, car destroyed a CV joint on lap 69, we replaced this, and got back out on lap 89, the tripode joint hen colapsed on lap 156 putting us out.

Like to say that the general atomsphere was great and thanks to all the guys that offered help and support.

How did the accident occur? Was it a coming together with the McInerney Honda Integra?

Alright then you asked for it, Saturday was the only day we could do due to my co-driver's work commitments in the US. Still made a decent run of it and led the class when I was handed the car (we were in P5 overall before the pitstop due to Mike's excellent driving in the wet - which is not bad for a humble Class 3 BMW). Unfortunately I managed to spin the car whilst on slicks in the damp and the trip across the field upset a sensor on the engine which put the engine into limp mode. Still managed 2nd in class (again) but that class win is still elusive....

Thought it was a great weekend with a really good atmosphere. Can't wait for the 24 hour race instead of these "sprint" races

Also, if the rumours from the weekend are true '06 is going to be awesome in Britcar....

What a race!! That really was a 5 hour epic! Superb action all the way through from where I was standing (Russell chicane mostly although we did go for a wander alongside the Revett straight and up to Riches. The Falcon sounds mega on the straight!)

There was some really committed drivers out there, especially Barry Horne, Nigel Greensall and Calum Lockie who, I've decided, is a bloody lunatic! The speed he attacked the chicane in the Ferrari was mind-blowing.

Huge comiserations to Top Cats for coming oh so close to a superb win. None of the Marcos drivers looked that quick but it just goes to show what 3 quick and equally matched drivers can achieve.

Treated myself to a Nikon D70 on Saturday with a 300mm zoom thoroughly enjoyed my day running off over 500 shots!!! Here are some of my favourites.

d_drinks, so close etc...

Henry, enjoyed the chat before the race. Thanks for taking the time out. Still thinking about that 944 but in the meantime, I can definitely recommend the D70! What do you reckon?

Simon, came over to say hello but when I got to your pit you appeared to doing some impromptu repairs to driveshaft using a fg big hammer! So I left it... Maybe at Brands eh? BTW, great powerslides out of Russell! Proper little mover that Lotus!

Nutskie, your man Lockie's a loon! What an awesome driver! He was very exciting to watch and had more than his fair share of 'Oh sh...' moments...

...like this one! Top man.

And finally, a bit of off-roading from Jeff Wyatt's BeeEm...

...and the hugely fast Ford Falcon.

See you all at Brands!

Edited to add jay-cannonball, nice to meet you mate! See you another round somewhere no doubt!

A great weekend for team 911virgin.com, eating all those pies paid off.

We actually did a little bit better than everyone though as we had not been bumped up to class 1, it was a mistake and we should have been racing in class 2 as normal. That being the case we came 2nd in class for both races.

Given the mistake was only realised after the event we`ll have to for-go the tinware but not to worry there`s always next time.

A full race report to follow soon - watch out with that last photo of the Falcon Gary. Jonathan (Palmer) will be charging them for some grass seed !!

Great racing with everyone again.

Oh yeah, yeah yeah. Even *I* (a commited NON race enthusiast) can't wait for the 24 hour Britcar!

You can't entice us with rumours of better Britcar in 06 and not deliver the goods boy-o!! Come on, spill!!!!

Good job he didn't try that a move a season or 2 ago, IIRC that used to be a beach there, didn't it?

That was a bit of a result, Henry, with the re-re-classification of your Porsche! Wonder what class they'll put you in at Brands?

The race winners on Sunday: Nigel Greensall and Ian Dockerill, despite Nigel hitting the pitlane limiter on the penultimate lap and driving through the pits thinking he ahd a problem!
