Hi
are there any 'proper' torque settings for the Tuscan, or is it all just 'as tight as feels right'?

Don't need anything to do with the engine, but particularly interested in:

* Bolts through the rose joints
* Shock absorbers top/bottom
* crossmember at back of gearbox to chassis
* diff mounts
* muckle hub nuts (left/right handed) at end of drive shafts (jeez they were tight to undo!)
* CV joints on drive shafts - joint to hub, joint to diff
* propshaft to diff bolts (isn't there a 'right' way round? Is it nut away from diff, with washer on diff side?)
* steering rack to chassis
* steering rack to steering column
* front ball joints
* steering arm to hub carrier
* steering joints
* brake calipers to hub carriers

....and anything else significant on the chassis, drivetrain, steering and brakes I've missed.

Thanks

from the tuscan race car handbook

wheel nuts.........................70ftlb
41mm af stub axle nuts............300ftlb
brake disc to mounting bell bolts..10ftlb
brake caliper bolts................50ftlb

General torque settings

thread size torque ft lb
1/4".....m6.......................8-11
5/16"....m8.......................17-21
3/8".....m10......................30-35
7/16"....m12......................50-55
1/2"..............................70-80
sorry thats all there seems to be, i hope this helps

I seem to remember seeing a chart of recomended torque settings for various grades and sizes of nuts and bolts you could contact a fastener specialist , i'm sure they have this sort of information easily available

I heard there was such a thing, but for the earlier rover-engined cars. Presumably all the chassis stuff is the same, but is there a version for the later cars? More importantly, is it scanable/photocopyable...or are they still available?

I can ask nice, and I'll buy the beers. So, what brings you to Fife this weekend then?
