Grrrr.... given how quiet the GTs were when I saw them at Donington at the beginning of the season it's an even more ridiculous.

Or maybe 'was'.

Let's see, what could influence the appeal?

There could be many logical arguments about provision of choice of leisure facilities in the West Country and so on. But in the end I think you have to get the inside track on the 5 protesters.

Locally one might point out how much influence over other people's freedoms seems to be in the hands of very few people.

Then I would put about a rumour that the whole place may be used to build one of Prescott's favoured housing developments which may be reserved for the use of future asyllum seekers, immigrants and any travelling relatives they may wish to invite.

In fact a plan to abandon the place entirely and leave it for pikey's to inhabit may well elicit some less favourable reaction to the complainers from the local people.

Wiltshire eh! Another place to avoid for any number of reasons.

NIMBY'S WIN! REASONABLE FOLK GUTTED!

Arse! Find out who these people were and firebomb their houses when they're out! (Well, maybe not, but FFS...they must have known they were moving next to a racing circuit...it's been there for years!)

Alternatively:-
- find out where they live;
- those forum members with the noisiest cars take it in turns to drive past their houses at full chat...at 11pm. At 1am. At 3am. At 4am AND 5am!;
- post same suggestion on a local barry-boys website!

Nimby buys house at £30,000 under market value because they are within earshot of Castle Combe race track. They realise what their house would be worth if they can stop the noise, they complain, they win. They've just added £30,000 to their house price.

Wan*kers whoever they are.

I CAN'T understand why the local magistrates/council/whoever have made this decision...did the circuit have crap advocates or something?!?

Anyone close to events give us some more information?

Agreed in triplicate.
If you don't like the sound of cars occasionally DON'T MOVE NEXT TO A FECKING RACE CIRCUIT

This is way beyond a joke.

Castle Combe depend on having a few big events a year to make the circuit financially viable.

They take the issue of noise more seriously then any other track I've been to - with the possible exception of Brands.

Absolutely shocking.

If the same fkers had complained about the noise of a football stadium they would have been told to off...because everyone just loves football. But those nasty motor cars, eh?

Fkers.

I take it the petition signed by thousands of people didn't sway the arguament? I'd happily sign up again to support the track.

Too many motorsport venues are being lost or restricted and given that Motorsport as a whole is very big business in this country, there must be a way that something can be done collectively to maintain venues.

If the people that complained lived in a built-up area, no doubt they would be subjected to more noise at even more unsociable hours - pubs, nightclubs, sirens, chavs with load stereos in cars etc. etc. Just because they chose to live in a rural area that happens to be near a race circuit... gets my goat.

Goodwood has suffered over the years from people who moved in after 1948 to such an extent where track days are becoming difficult to run due to the noise levels allowed in return for 3 days unsilenced running a year. Chichester and the surrounding area benefits massively from the increased trade brought in by the two events. I'm sure the area around Castle Combe will suffer if these restrictions succeed.

But if you work for the civil service or government, and your income is independent of the local economy, then you don't care, do you?

Of course you care if your local pub, shops, post office, etc close, your comment is not thought through. I can't believe this decision, hopefully pressure from 'reasonable' people will over-turn it.

Is there something else going on here?
Councillor with a grudge?
Enviromentalist magistrate?

I can't believe we're getting the whole story.

Rural environment. Largely "not against" I'd expect...but no figures.
