£5-7K Panerai Luminor or Breguet Type XXI
Discussion
Just had a slightly better then expected offer on my GP and looking to make a step up the line.......I have always liked Panerai but saw a Type XXI in the summer and thought it was lovely. Just spotted one I think is fair value.
There are many iterations of the Luminor.....any obvious models to avoid/seek out. Any thoughts on one versus other? Also pondering JLC MasterCompressor Diving but that does seem a BIG watch......

yeah thats a proper bit of a kit, but the offer I have on the watch is through Watchfinder so stuck there in terms of choice. https://www.watchmaster.com/en/jaeger-lecoultre/ma...
Breguet is a fantastic brand which I don't think gets enough attention.
Panerai - I've always been a fan of the 372 and the 663. Both pretty big at 47mm. There's a nice 213 on WF - 44mm rattrapante if you want a chrono.
There's some lovely Grand Seikos around that price point too.
Also a fan of Zenith so there's a couple of nice El Primeros on there. And the crazy Defy El Primero with the 1/100th second chrono....

Master Compressor is big IMO. Looked at one a fair while ago and much as I thought it was a nice watch, it was too big for my puny wrists.
Breguets were nice too, but a bit clunky for my tastes.
Zeniths are a good shout (I'm biased). Though some of the more recent stuff is gaudy. Choose right and you get a classy watch with a great movement.
Have you ever considered Blancpain? Really nicely made watches and you don't see many around. Some may be a bit small though.

forgot to add ...... good to see Black Sabbath and The Clash putting aside cultural differences to help a fellow watch fan........must be the Christmas spirit!
It's all rock 'n' roll to me man
I happen to be wearing my 3810br as I write this - I have a fair few watches and this is not only one of my favourites from a personal perspective (it was a present upon the birth of my daughter) but objectively it is a genuinely lovely piece of kit with a dial that catches the light and beautifully proportioned numerals and subdials. I think they are fantastic value and would strongly recommend that you find somewhere to try one on - and do try the rose gold even if that isn’t normally your thing.
