WOW what a day, went to the first A1 grand prix at brands today. Not been to a formula one race before so can’t really compare, but being brands hatch you can get so close to the track it is amazing, the noise of them V8s was deafening, and the British car (R.Kerr) was doing so well until engine failure took it out. Only downside one and a half hours to get out of the car park. But well worth it!
oh yeh and I'm deaf in one ear now!

I saw the sprint race, apart from the first lap it seemed very processional. Might have been the cars but I think it's more to do with Brands Hatch and what I have always said about the GP circuit and big open wheel slick/wings racing cars. Too many medium to high speed corners and no overtaking opportunities.
I guess the main race pitstop spiced things up later, but it's a shame that "strategy" as in F1 is the only way to get the spice introduced.

I watched the 'Sprint' race but didn't find it grabbed my attention so I switched over to ITV to watch a review of the previous weekend's Goodwood Revival. I must say some of the wheel-to-wheel dicing between the classics made A1 look tame. After Goodwood I switched back to A1 but it looked like a procession so watched the Brazilian GP. I guess Sky lost me after the 'Sprint' race. Rich...
yeh it was good fun. we found a superb spot - hawthorn bend - and sat in the sun to watch. although i have to say sitting there with the A1 cars almost aiming at you was a little threatening so we moved away after the sprint race. didnt see much overtaking but you could tell which drivers were pushing i think. anyway, heres a little snippet of the sprint race, the mic on my camera isnt so good so TURN IT UP..

Agree the sprnt was boring but the race was good with plenty of action and spills, a very good day out with plenty of support races. Just a shame getting out of the car park was a pain.
