Martin Brundle says that Ferrari is prepairing to hire Kimi for the years 2007-2011. Wonder if this is true??

Have a feeling Ron Dennis has Kimi's contract tired up pretty much.

But good luck to him all depends on where Steve Roberton thinks Kimi should go.

I´d like that to be true John, because certainly would rather see Kimi continuing at McLarens.

So, they'll have Kimi AND Rossi from 2007?

If Kimi's going to Ferrari, I know where Rossi SHOULD be going if that's the case...

Although, not sure Ron would appreciate his latin enthusiasm! But would a damn sight better than being at Ferrari.

Since when is Rossi going to F1?

Exactly. Despite Ross Brawn announcing publicly that Rossi will be testing on a monthly basis next year (which I somehow doubt Yamaha would be very happy with), Rossi himself has completely denied that this is the case. Not sure who to blame for this publicity stunt - I guess it gives Ferrari some positive attention while they're going down the pan, especially as the dream team will break up next year.

He'll have one more year on the Yamaha, before Honda get that fed up they build a bike that is too dominant to be beaten.

By that time he'll be looking for new challenges (is my guess, I'll be proved wrong in 07, obviously!) and what better than going for the four wheeled equivalent of what he's been doing for the last six years?

Especially as F1 rule changes with new engines and reliability SHOULD level the playing field a little.

I commented above as the media have been playing up the fact that Ferrari have been stating they want him in a car in 2007. The harsh fact is that I even doubt that Kimi is actually going to Ferrari, unless its for the money, which I also doubt. He has a better chance of being world champion at McLaren once the Ferrari dream team has been disolved. It will be back to the dark days of fast but incrdibly unreliable cars from Maranello once again methinks.

Things surely will change next year when they change the engines to 2,4 liter V8´s so is the Maranello red is not doing so well now, wonder what the future will hold for them. I wish Räikkönen stays in McLarens.

Teletext was saying the other day that Rossi had decided F1 was a bad idea because it would make him too famous...

I think Flav. summed him up rather succinctly in MCN this week:

"He's like a kindergarten child, who has fun with toys. When he wants to grow up, he should join the grown-ups and demonstrate what he's really capable of".

To which Rossi's reply was "We will never be friends". (referring to himself and Flav.)

Nope, Ferrari testing at Fiorano and possibly once at Mugello. The last person I know to have stuffed a car on a test was rally champion Tommi Makinen in a Williams at Barcelona (same test day as Mick Doohan). 1998-99.

IIRC Mr Makinen flicked the wrong paddle on the steering wheel at full revs in the middle of a 4th gear corner. Changed down to 3rd instead of up to 5th. Scratch one Williams F1 car as it barrelled backwards into the tyre wall at a fair rate of knots

Regardless of any inate talent he may have, where is Rossi going to obtain an F1 superlicence from with no single-seater race experience??

Doesn't the electronics prevent that? Surely it's trivial to do in software and completely saves an engine.

If it came to that, Max and Bernie just might possibly be able to assist.

Same could be said ofmore than a handful of no hopers and tossers that have been doing Friday practice and testing roles with back of the grid F1 teams for years. It's not that hard to get an F1 super licence, you just need to get the required milage under your belt. He'll be able to do that with Ferrari testing.

Besides, having won 7 World titles already, in a more dangerous and more hotly contested series won't have hurt his chances...

Rossi has already done enough mileage to qualify for a superlisence. Its not even that much - something like 500kms, so like half a days testing!

No wonder they get so many rich tw@ts buying their way into friday practice - what is the point?! You are wasting someones money you idiot!!!
