I've been watching since Friday, it's great to see old (and some not so old) cars being raced, but Goodwood Revival it certainly isn't. Martin Haven is doing a brilliant job of commentary as usual, he's definitely sounding a little hoarse now, and Ed Foster is great too smile

The rest of the festival strikes me as a little underwhelming though. I think there was only 10 cars on the Group C grid (and one of them went pop on the warm-up lap).

They say it's the last one ever, does anyone know if anything is going to directly replace it?

I was there first 90% of this event, left an hour or so ago. I've been told by people marshaling the event that Chris Harris has got an event thats taking its place, and the racing that would usually take place is going to be moved forward in the year to July instead.

Ah, that must be the "Car Fest" that someone mentioned in the YT chat. Thanks.

Bet your ears are still ringing due to the DFV F1 cars? smile

Did they stream on YT? I'll have to find it and give it a watch. They sound like the opposite to Bonhams' auctioneers at Goodwood. I love watching them, they're very entertaining; auctioneers on first-name terms with bidders and a lot of showmanship on display. I'm always impressed how they manage to wring such massive bids out of people smile

Chris Evans rather than Chris Harris. One woth supporting, the other a ginger prat.

Hoping it can go back to it's roots and get to be more about the cars and racing than everything else, then maybe they'll be able to bring the entry fee down which will improve grid numbers, it's ridiculous money at the moment.

I quite enjoyed my three days, so I'd rather neither of them. It felt a bit like Le Mans Classic where I could dip in and out of the racing at various places around the track depending on if the race was one of those i was interested in, whilst having a huge number of other things to look at and do. The cost was fairly high, but we displayed my partners car which basically meant we got in for half price. Seemed a fair concession to make it more attractive to people with nice cars, they get in for less and the event has a greater number of vehicles on display.

I spent my usual 3 days there and enjoyed it hugely , despite the sunburn and 15miles walked... The track offers mainly poor viewing , but access to pits and paddocks (yup, plural) offers wonderful close up viewing of an extraordinary diversity of machinery.

Lots of highlights, one of them being the unforgettable scream of the lovely green Ferrari 250 SWB , audible at Village from Farm to almost Brooklands . Or the sight of 50 plus Formula Juniors ducking and diving around the circuit . Or the pair of Daytona Cobras dicing for the lead , with a cheeky Elan sanpping at their heels , or Jan Magnussen making a Turner go faster than it had any right to .

I will miss it , and hope that it has a worthy siuccessor - not the Carfest bkry , but a big HSCC/MRL event

Interesting the pricing is mentioned, I fail to understand why they do this for this event, I wonder if it is to restrict numbers? Or to control the type of people that do come along? As the discounts for clubs and 3 days are significant.

Not everyone is or wants to be a car club, not everyone wants to go for all 3 days, and if so the daily prices are significantly higher.

there must be a reason for it, maybe they only want certain sorts of people there? I dont know but it does seems a rather odd policy

yes it was live on Iconics youtube . Jonny Smith did the preview with his late brake youtube channel with all the cars belting around in the background.
