Hello All,

This will be my 19th visit at Le mans this year. Every year me and the rest of my Le Mans crew talk about going to the Nürnberg 24H.

Every year I read threads of people going to Le Mans for the first time looking for advice.

Last weekend I decided to buy a weekend ticket for the 24H Nürnberg, so as a rookie, I have some questions.

I am only attending on saterday and maybe sunday because I am not camping.

What would be a good place to start, at the grandprix strekke I Could watch the starting procedure and start, but I also would like to go the forest parts?

Is het possible to drive and park or is it best to stay in one place because I expect traffic to be a nightmare.

Is there an FM frequency to follow the race like radio Le mans or something like that?

Do i need a parking ticket for the car?

Please let me know what your experience is?

Perhaps the best advice might be to not set your satnav to 'nurnberg' which is the other side of the country.

I went in 2008 with a group of mates, we had all been going to Le Mans for years and fancied a change. We thought it was brilliant and found the Germans to be so friendly and welcoming, a stark contrast to how Le Mans had become (admittedly some of the Brit behaviour doesn't help) We only viewed the race from a handful of places but they were all good especially the start of the race opposite the pits. I'm heading out there Friday for the entire weekend with my Son and his mate as they have both hit 18 and I'd promised we would do the 24. We have a hotel booked near the circuit and are really looking forward to an exciting weekend, its going to be pretty mental as Verstappen is racing and they have sold a record amount of tickets and it's the biggest field in years. Should be a cracker. We drove round a lot and the traffic wasn't a problem at all, but it will be a lot busier this year with all the Verstappen fans....

Firstly, it's Nürburgring, in Nürburg.

We usually make it a longer trip, travelling from the UK on Wednesday and returning on the following Tuesday.

You will need to pay to park at any official parking - and police do tow/fine people for parking in 'restricted parking' areas and 'no parking' zones.

Traffic can be terrible, but we've been very lucky over the past 5 years, and only encountered a bit of slow-moving traffic about 1 mile from the circuit, and once we've parked we just walk around the track over the course of the 30 hours or so that we're there (usually drive back to the hotel for a nap after midnight and return after breakfast the following morning.

There are shuttle buses you can use to get you around the area (I think they're free with a N24 general admission ticket), but it is infrequent and heavily-oversubscribed. The routes/stops are usually published on https://www.24h-rennen.de.

Shuttle times are half-way down this page (note that they only run from 8am to midnight):
https://www.24h-rennen.de/en/fan-schedule/#1776073...

You don't need a general admission ticket if you're just going to watch from public areas around the Nordschleife, but if you want access to the covered grandstands at the GP-Strecke, then you'll need a ticket.

The general admission ticket will also get you access to the Tribune stands (others are free entry, but on a first come basis), but the doors to those tend to be locked well before the start or finish, so plan to get there at least an hour before to secure a seat...and if you're going solo, ensure you carry all your snacks/drinks with you as you risk losing your seat if you get up to go the snackbar/bar/toilet. Also, take a cushion if you're going to be sitting for any length of time as uncovered seats can get boiling hot, cold, wet, or just uncomfortable.

You should be able to pick up the English RLM stream via their website (or youtube), plus there'll be the German stream on youtube.

Official 2026 Fan Guide is here...

  • p40 for bus shuttle info
  • p41/42 for streaming info

Thank you so much for the reply, this helps a lot.

I am trying to change the title, my mistake, but did not succeed yet...
