Formula Ford Festival! Superb meeting!
Discussion
Just thought I'd say how much I enjoyed the FF Festival yesterday even though there were a few delays due to the inevitable mishaps!
The organisers did a brilliant job of ensuring everything ran as close to the schedule as they could especially during the last race of the day, how close was that to being a finish under the safety car!
I never used to be afan of single seat racing, and do still prefer GT's et al if I'm honest, but the racing was just so close and professional that I couldn't but help be impressed.
Then of course there was the historic Aston's, Mustangs etc which is more my bag and I was transfixed for the whole 45mins.
So did anybody else here go? There were a few PH type cars parked near my Exige on the Southbank, anyone?

A great meeting as ever! I was standing on the inside of Druids for most of the meeting - close to the action.
The howling Mk1 Escort was great to watch - not the quickest, but looked fun. The Anglia in the Historic race was having a good time and the Aston's were fantastic as usual.
Not so long ago, there were only single seater races at the festival, so it's a sign of the times that the organisers had to put other classes in. I do think they had too many races yesterday though, but despite the many incidents, they did a cracking job.

Was there with a mate & my father - grey Cerbera & silvery blue Elise 135R parked at the top of South Bank.
Great days racing and compared to the FFF of old a real diverse mix of races which must give the Festival a wider appeal, but the place was like a ghost town!
I'm embarrassed to say that I've been to the festival most years since '88 and it used to get 10 times the crowd.
On a more positive note, isn't it great to see Palmer improving the place - nothing major so far but it's nice they now seem to include things like toilet roll in the entry price.....

Ben,
Was there for about 1 hour - went with a fellow PHer who knew one of the drivers. We parked behind the main Grandstand (360 & NSX)... Saw most of the classics race - those DBS V8 Aston's look like a lot of fun!! Why was a Golf GTi racing in that class?
Crazy! Couldn't stay longer unfortunately (Chelsea KO was 4pm!).
I see you've changed cars again
Look forward to catching up on a Sunday run soon mate.
cheers,
Steve

Oooh so many questions!
Jon,
Unfortunately the DB4 GT Zagato wasn't at the meeting, wish it was though, I really don't think that historic racing can be beaten to be honest, all imho though obviously! Gawd those Zagato's are
Steve,
I saw the 360 behind the g/stands (red with black lthr) but didn't see the NSX. I'm guessing that you'd gone by the time I walked around that far!
The R400 has indeed gone, replaced now by the slower (but louder) Elise!
Would be good to get out one of the Sunday runs, I won't be quite as fast as I was in the R400 but I'll certainly give it my best shot!

Yes it did and it was won by peter dempsey by about 8 seconds in appaling conditions, the regulars who enter the combe championship did not fair to well with bad starts and shunts still it was a good meeting
The festival was good to, really enjoyed it apart the historic touring cars race which was far to long and not in with the flavour of the weekend just glad the BRSCC saw sense and changed the timetable o couple weeks before hand.

Did anyone see the big crash from the ford car race sorry cannot not remember the name. I think the car was a Ford Sierra 3 door Cosworth It rolled about 4 time, complete right off.
It was actually an XR4i. There was a picture of it in Autosport last week looking a right old mess whilst in mid roll.

It was a big crash. I got to see the car close-up when it got taken back on the track lorry. At least the driver got out ok.
Are you going to the truck race meeting this weekend. Maybe we could meet-up. I am mostly by my self when at race meeting as most of my mate are into football.
