Anyone been to Estoril?
Discussion
Hi guy's,
As a change from a foreign F1 GP this year a couple of us are looking at going to the A1 GP at Estoril (no dayes yet but I'm guessing October). Looks good as last year they had a free coach to and from the circuit - according to the A1 website.
Looking at the maps I'm assuming that Lisbon Airport is the closest - am I right?
Anyone got any experiences of going there? - any hotel recommendations etc.
Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris,
Have worked at Estoril a few times.
Your correct, Lisbon is the closest Airport.
Depending on the length of your stay, a great place to stay is in Cais Cais, not sure of spelling (pronounced cashkai). It is on the beach, about 15 mins from Circuit.
Good bet for Hotel etc is a company which speialises in Motorsport travel, we used the, is Travel Places 01903 885111 speak to Mark Dexter mention my name, no discount but he may try harder.!

You can stay in Estoril itself which is on the beach and a few miles from the circuit which is inland a bit. Has Europe's largest casino (think it still is).
Last time I was there in 2000 it was looking very ropey - hope they've done some upgrades to it. The A1GP had torrential rain apparently over the weekend.
Cascais is very nice as well - remember 'Book Early' as Fred Pontin would say.
Lisbon is great as well - beautiful city and city and good if like streep roads to walk up!!
