I was thinking of the off-circuit hazards. Oncer upon a time some of the GP circuits were in similar settings.

I agree that the current cicuit used in the Park (the Oldtown Circuit) is not the best. It would be nice if they returned to the 2.5 mile Hawthorn Circuit. Derek Daly was able to get his 1978 Ensign F1 car to over 180 mph on a demo-run that year on the Hawthorn Circuit.

Great vid, the 'run off' reminds me of the Crystal Palace revival sprint back in '97. It's a shame they didn't get something more permanent out of that, the only motorsport meeting I've been to by bus - handy for refreshments afterwards

You can get to the Phoenix Park by bus - and admission is FREE. The Bye Laws of the Park prohibit spectator charging.

Excellent! I Might need a bit more than a bus to get there, though...

I've been to the Phoenix park races a few times, and they were brilliant! Highly recommneded.

Yeah, you would have to have HUGE steel balls to race on that, no where for us Marshals to hide though!!!

One was very seriously injured back in 1985 and there have been quite a few lucky escapes. There have been a couple of driver fatalaties at the Park too. A Formula Ford driver was killed in 1976 when his car hit a SKIP!

Crikey, I presume you mean cars as I think some bikers might take offence at the title of this thread! Check out some on bike footage of the IOM TT and the North West 200 then claim they are not run on "proper road circuits".

if most bikers are mad, road racers are positively insane!

Of course I was referring to cars. Being Irish, I'm well aware of the Irish Road Circuits and even went a few times to events at Skerries and the now defunct Dunboyne.

Motor cycles have also been raced in the Park too.
