Hi,

I went to Oulton on Monday, for the British GT/F3 meeting. Below are the best photos I managed to take with my totally inadequate £250 compact camera. Lets see some truly awesome shots from you SLR boys and girls, come on make me realise just how bad my shots are!

Cheers,

Ray.

Hi Ray.

For all your moaning at the Britcar last weekend about your "inadequate" camera, they are some bloody good pics! Did you manage to get any of Andy Allen's Porsche at all?

Nothing wrong at all with those. It's not what you've got, it's how you use it.....which also applies to cameras

Mine are undergoing conversion at the moment, i'll post some up later or tomorrow.

Thanks very much for the positive comments. To be honest I really struggled with the bad light. It was really difficult to find some settings where the photos didn't come out blurry. Those 5 were the clearest ones. However if the bloody sun would actually come out, which it hopefully will at the Snetterton EERC meeting, I think I can then improve the photos a lot.

Gary, I only got a couple of Andy Allen's Porsche, which weren't as clear as the ones I posted, but here they are:

not bad photos at all! good day wasnt it? We were very cold (unlike saturday when it was so warm the midges were biting) but it was still worth going. The Panoz sounds awesome and the Marcos was superb. Did you see thr Mclaren SLR outside the SRO tent, gorgeous!!!! also saw lots of Tivs at the venue.

We were fairly cold too. Your right about the sound of the Panoz and I thought the Morgan sounded great as well. Also it was good to see the Marcos come first in class against all the German and Italian opposition. I am guessing that Tivs means TVR's. If I am right then yes there was a number of TVR's including a fantastic orange Sagaris and a Tuscan with a crazy paint job. Didn't notice the Mclaren SLR but there was one in the paddock at the first two EERC meetings at Silverstone and Oulton, and yes I reckon gorgeous is an appropriate word!

Here's a few to be going on with. The infamous PH clunky resize will so its worst but i can't be bothered re-sizing them yet again

First up (for me anyway) the Heritage Grand Touring Car Challenge. Some classic metal involved in this one, including this
very nice Chevvy Camaro.

Some of the best of British. Jeremy Cooke in his beautifully presented Aston Martin DB4.

On to the British F3 International Series and the Man of the moment, Bruno Senna. He won both races on Sunday and after his
win in the Australian GP Support race, he seems to have developed a taste for the top step...

Chased by Stephen Jelley, Senna decides 2 wheels are better than 4. This was also the order they finished in race 1

Bruno on his way to a win in race 2.

There's more to a race meeting than cars...

On to the Main event, the British GT Championship..

This is my personal favourite, The Mosler..

Finally, one for our Aussie members. A Monaro.

Still working on a gallery....500+ shots

Geoff, some top drawer photos there. The Avon girl is seriously fit! Can I ask what camera and lens you have? I am thinking of buying a Digital SLR on a buy now pay later scheme, because I definitely haven't got enough money to pay up front!

Cheers,

Ray.

Super pictures again, Geoff. I love the one of the Camaro. It's great to see the Senna name back on top of the timing and result sheets again, isn't it.

Edited to add: Thanks for posting the pics of Andy, Ray. See you at Silverstone for the FIA GT?

Gary, will definitely be at Silverstone for the FIA GT's, booked the tickets today. The missus is coming along. Same as at Oulton if you see the Newcastle scarf come say hi. Do you know if we will be able to take our cars through the main entrance or will we have to leave them in the car park outside. Also glad to be of help with the Porsche pics.

Cheers,

Ray.

Ray, all of those are with the Canon 20D.

All except for the pan shot of Bruno Senna on the straight are with the Canon 100-400L. The pan shot was with my latest toy, the Sigma 120-300 f2.8.

Warehouse Express do a buy now, pay later deal, or if you're disciplined enough, there's always the 0% Credit Card shuffle

Thanks for the comments

Thanks

As for Bruno, i've just seen a shot of him elsewhere sitting in the car with the visor up and it's spooky how much he looks like Ayrton.

Last season wasn't too clever as i'm sure everyone knows, but it looks like he's got the taste for winning now. He was a class above the rest yesterday.

I should think it'll be a park outside job. If you want, PM me with your mobile no. and we'll meet up during the day.

Geoff, don't think I could do the 0% shuffle, although it is an interesting idea. I have been looking on Warehouse Express at either the Nikon D70, which Gary takes his excellent shots with, or the Canon EOS 350D (I wouldn't be able to stretch to a 20D). Its sounds like a joke, but PC World currently have a really good price on the 350D with a basic lens. Its cheaper than Warehouse Express and the Buy Now Pay later scheme is 3 months longer.

My first set of shots, from Saturday afternoon can be found here: British F3 & GT at Oulton Park.

I lost my entire morning's shooting when my portable hard drive decided to curl up and die. Ho hum. Monday's shots to follow ...
