This year I said hello to Jack Brabham, saw Damon Hill receiving instruction on how to drive his dad's Lotus 49, saw Bjorn Waldergaard, John Surtees, Stirling Moss, Richard Pettyetc etc.

In previous years I've seen or chatted to Jackie Ickx, Dickie Atwood, Doug Nye, Alain De Cadanet, Nick Mason, Tiff Nedell, Stig Blomqvuist (the original Stig) Richard Branson, Barry Sheene, Alan Jones, Mark Surer, Jody Scheckter, Chris Amon, Jackie Oliver, Paul Frere, Phill Hill, Mike Costin etc etc.

Nowhere else would I have ever got near to these people.

New ones for me this year were Jacques Lafitte, Richard Petty, Matt Neal, Bruno Senna and Nigel Mansell (ok he was driving past me in his Lola-Ford KMart Indycar but it was as close as I'd got)

And of course GFOS virgin Randy Mamola when they were waiting ages in the collection area before going up the hill. The MotoGP was incredibly loud.

Most times I was just walking around and looking at the cars, so didn't take too many snaps this year. Plus I was very by the ignorant people with SLR's trying to be David Bailey and pushing in everywhere just to take a arty photos of a wing mirror.

Your young...:cough:..older brother surely?

Is that how you got your photo taken with VBH, you went up to her and said "Hi, I'm Randy", no wonder she's smiling

Vic Elford - would'nt have reconised but saw him putting on his helmet which had his name on the side! Also saw Andy Priaux walking though the paddock.

Little tip for next year , go right down by the assembly area at the bottom of the hill , we got to see Hill, Mansell , Button ,Rosberg, Petty, Stewart , Moss at fairly close quarters some having a fairly relaxed chat before their runs....I will post some piccys later !

The good Mrs S very very nearly walked straight into Valentino Balboni..

She has a tendency to do this.. in our lax flower days, she nearly walked straight into Jamie Shaw (Carisma)..

I very nearly ran John Watson over whilst having a sneaky drive down the hill a few years ago...does that count?
