One for club racers in the know...

I might be about to acquire a 1992 Formula Renault, still in the spec it was intended to be in. Does anyone know what, if any championships it is eligible for? Unfortunately I have very few details at the moment, but if anyone has any knowledge at all it would be gratefully received!

Cheers!

Might be able to run in 750 motor club formula 4 championship or maybe the monoposto club series. Think it will be a 1700 so I don't think you can run it in the Barc championship as that is for the newer 2000 engined cars.

I've just sold my 1990 Formula Renault to a chap in Ireland who is doing Formula Libre over there. I used it for hills and sprints running in the up to 2litre class - nowhere near enough power to compete but fun to drive.

Monoposto 1600 is the ideal series or the BARC SEC single seater series. IIRC a '94 1700 won the Mono 1600 championship a couple of years ago. The main problems with the 1700 are the wet sump and the gearbox which is crap - road ratios and the key to a quick lap is getting every gear - not always an easy task!

If the car is reasonably priced, its a great way to start racing as they are easy to work on and rewarding to drive.

Good luck
Andrew

The car is definately eligible for the Monoposto 1600 class and such cars have run in this class in the recent past. Could also run in the SEMSEC and BARC-SEC single seater series.
