I thought Anthony Davidson just did a good job on the ITV F1 commentary in place of Brundle - good insights into what's really going on. Is he commenting for the race tomorrow too?

I don't know about the race - but he did do a good job - would be great if he replaced james allen!

It just goes to prove that no matter who is in the other seat, James Allen will always be a cock.

I wonder if Brundle's sudden disappearance from the commentary box has anything to do with this?

I wish the smileys list had one of those even better laughing ones - that is absolutely hilarious. Look at Brundle's face!!

Did he have to mention 'graining' quite so much though - I think we all got it the first time. At least he sounded a little more enthusiastic than Martin 'been there done that don't give a fcuk' Brundle..

Yeh, but give him a break... not exactly exciting commentating on F1 these days is it!

I wondered where Brundle was. I thought Davidson did a very good job too, it will be good to see how he handles the race.

I thought Davidson did a really excellent job. He was clear and articulate, and some of his live comments on driver errors during qualifying were very well observed and added to the show. He is a great sub for Martin Brundle I think.

What amazes me is that ITV seem to find it easy to find top class presenters to cover the technical aspects of the F1 programme, whilst seeming unable to find anyone better than James Allen to anchor the race commentary. Sometimes I think he sounds like Michael Barrymore...

No. Davidson was crap. Went on and on and on and was boring. Tried too hard. Bring back MB

somewhat agree - i think he showed all the hall marks of someone who thought it would be easy so did not do any prep. therefore when he went on air, he came up with the same stock phrases for each driver - he always started buttons laps with, "he's a smooth driver" and then did not add anything else worthwhile.

anyone know where MB has gone?

Anthony Davidson: "Here's Schmauacher, he'll be doing this and that, he needs to bear this in mind on that corner etc."

James Allen: "So here's Michael Schumacher - on a lap..." No st Sherlock!

Thought he was just on holiday.... Bet he's guttedto miss that race...

Anthony did a great job - wouldn't be surprised if they find an ongoing role for him somehow...

Steve Robertson I think (1994 Indy Lights champion. ex-Formula Nippon, BTCC driver with Ford) and also Kimi Raikkonen's manager.

I find this extreme opinion very unfair. AD is not even trained as a reporter/journalist and has little(don't know if he's commentated b4) or no experience at it.

Yet he did a better job than J Allen who's CV includes; press officer to Brabham, news editor at Autosport magazine and pit lane reporter for ESPN.

I say good effort AD.
