Those of you who thought the Ferrari engine blew up in Suzuka think again. It seems that a valve did not decide to stop valving but instead, according to the BBC news website in quoting Schumacher:

". . . we had to absorb a technical setback in Suzuka . . ."

How much better that sounds. So it seems that, when a conrod came through the side of the engine in my Dutton, it wasn't a a seized piston ring causing the piston to fracture, allowing the little end to seak freedom, but 'a technical setback'. If I'd known that at the time It probably wouldn't have cost so much to replace.

This is de rigeur for F1 these days, see how long you can talk for without actually saying anything. I remember when ITV asked the Red Bull team principal if they would still be using Ferrari engins next year - not only did I not learn anything from his answer, I swear I forgot some stuff I already knew!
