Anglesey being re-developed

Just had the latest ACU news letter. It shows the new layout at Anglesey which bears very little relationship to the "old" circuit. It will also be a "wide" circuit as well being having 12 metres of tarmac side to side all the way round the circuit. Also explains why "fifth Gear" aren't doing their "shoot-outs" this series.
Well...I'd settle for some Spectator banking somewhere you can actually see the action!
Even nicer would be a grandstand...
Nicerer would be a glass fronted building (like the "Foulston Centre" as was at Brands) where you can watch the racing in total comfort - but that I expect will only happen shortly after Hell freezes over.

Having lived on Anglesey for the first seventeen years of my life I can confirm that the sunny weather you experienced was a one-time freak of nature...
Actually - in the summer on a good day it really can be fabulous there. This last summer gone I spent a lot of time up there as my Dad was very ill, terminally sadly, and although the occasion was rather grim the weather was absolutely fantastic. The scenery comes alive in the sunshine, the coast is very beautiful.
Next summer I'll go up and enjoy the track again I think. When they re-open.

i used to be based at RAF VALLEY, where the station mgazine was titled force 10 in recognition of the windspeeds there.
can be very nice on the island in the summer, with great diving and sea fishing.
we used to use the rifle range at Ty croes after they decided the one at valley was a bit small. we used to fire out over the sea and had to post lookouts to radio through to stop us whenever a boat decided to drive past!

Yep it does look like that!
Well looking at the diagram in the ACU's magazine it's very similar. It isn't an overlay so I'll have to try and describe it.
It seems a little thinner at the bottom with a more pronounced "heel"! which has been named "rocket". The front of the "foot" is named "Peel" and is more of a long corner than the two corners with a straight in between.
The Bit that sticks out to the left which has the current "Mount View" to "School Corner" on it has the "Hairpin" on it and "Start/Finish 1" on the top side. This goes into the area were the four circuits diverge. The International Circuit comprises the whole track. The Coastal Circuit is the right hand side missing the loop with the existing Start/finish. The National Circuit is the lower loop with the Current Start Finish then looping down to Rocket and missing out the upper loop. The Club circuit appears to be the upper loop only with the Start Finish about half way up the left hand part of the track and a loop back to their from the Right hand part of the circuit. The Upper loop which has "The Banking" as the hairpin at the end with a return that is straighter than that shown to "Church" then back down pretty much as is. I'll see if I can get a better picture or even a scan of the map in the ACU magazine.

Noticed "Race and Rally UK" had the last race meeting on the "old" track on yesterday, well the Ford Saloon races anyway.
The last CAR meeting - there were couple of bike meetings after that.
Those Ford Saloon races were pretty good by any standards, weren't they! In fact that whole meeting was one of the best I did last year.....and I'm claiming my place in history as having called for a red flag for the last fire on the 'old' circuit (the Golf in the LMA Eurosaloons)!
