Grizedale Stages Rally?

Is anyone going to this on Saturday? I've just noticed it, and seeing as I've not had a rally fix in at least a year, fancy going.

Any tips on the best 'route' to take, the best spectator points and stages?

Anything useful at all!?

Will be going up on my own, just want to make sure I dont time it badly and miss all the action.

I've never done Grizedale before but i'll be with a photographer who has. We're planning to get there for 8am at the latest then walk into the stage and find a decent spot.


Rumours suggest Matthew Wilson will be driving the course car.....

I'll be there, supporting my mate who is going up on the friday for scrutineering, but due to work me and another mate are travelling overnight friday. He has a cottage booked for saturday night aswell so there will be beer a plenty

I navigated on the Grizedale stages back in 99 in a peugeot 106 cup car, it was very icey and cold but a good event around the lake.

Yes, what a weekend!
My friend was car number 61 the peugeot 205 GTi. Its not his car and he is a bit rusty but great to see him out again, shame a ditch got the better of him

I had to travel up with a friend from south wales on the friday night, we left at 1 am and got there around 5.30, lets just say the Ambleside to Coniston road has to be the best road ever when its pitch black with only the rabbits to stop you making progress

Had a meal after and e few drinks in the pubs in Coniston, we had a cottage right in the middle so didnt have to go far to finally find bed after over 36 hrs since i last slept Thanks to the other guys in our little motorsport group who were also running a 205 gti in the challenge, we managed to paint the town well and trully red.

I came across the A66 and down along the road that skirts around Ullswater, then over the Kirkstone Pass before Ambleside then on to Car Park A in the Forest.

7am, no traffic at all, full beam all the way and foot down. Absoloutely fantastic

Mind you, one foot wrong on the Ullswater Road and you'll finish up in the lake

Did you go back that way Geoff? I don't know whether you left before or after me but there was Carlton Estate off the road and down the hill toward the lake at Glencoyne woods, luckily it hit a tree stump which stopped it going any further, on a reasonably straight bit of road also Had only just happened when I arrived. It's a pretty common occurance on that road.

What a rally! Great to see Matt Wilson out there, and the Bowler as a course car was great! I drove up from Preston, took me just under 2hrs,came down the A6 through Lancaster (newish driver,M'ways are crap), down the A590, and used the singletrack road to Car Park C, got in convoy at a good pace with a couple of other rally fans,went to watch the stages at 'The Scissors'. then on the way back, did the coniston to greenodd road, had a good game of chase with a MkV GTI

I went via Kendal then cut across the A685 up to Tebay to dodge the traffic. The Sat Nav had me doing a bit of rallying at one point but all roads lead to home...eventually

Hi guys, I made it in the end, on my own as everyone bailed on me at 5am i nthe morning. I had a brilliant drive there took the a65 route from leeds with a few detours - was beatifullu frosty and quiet as the sun came up!

Stood on an embankment at 9am. Hungover, freezing cold, hungry. Thinking what the **** am I doing I could be in bed. Then, the sound of a Bowler wildcat at full tilt echoing off the other side of the valley, made it all worhtwhile!

Was a brill rally, hope you all enjoyed it! Need'nt have worried about going on my onw, chatted to loads of randoms!
