Wembley to host 2007 Race of Champions

Ah but that's a slightly different Race of Champions, there are at least three that I know of: the Brands Hatch non-championship F1 races, the US race series usually populated by NASCAR and the odd Indycar/Champ Car driver and the Henri Toivonen memorial rally event started by Michele Mouton that's evolved into the 'best of the world' spectacular that we now have
It was a fantasic event in paris, if a little too patriotic (like stopping the racing to allow two Citroen road cars to drive slowly around, with a salesman telling us about them), but a great event.
But at Wembley? it'll be terrible: they wont let the F1 cars go around (too noisy), sitto the dragsters (way too dangerous), and you wont be ble to sit on the second row for £40 a ticket- it'll be £150. And red ken will (no doubt) get his thieving hand on somehting about it. And too many "health and safety" issues surrounding it.
I'm not looking forward to London hosting it, even if it does mean an easier journey down then Paris.

I did know that 
The old Brands Hatch Race of Champions was an excuse by Brands to host an F1 race in the years when Silverstone was hosting the F1 GP (the "odd" years). Silverstone had their own equivalent for the "even" years. The last Brands Hatch Race of Champions was held in 1983 and won by Keke Rosberg.
ITV used to show the American "Race of Champions" on "World of Sport". I used to enjoy that as it provided a rare opportunity for Indycar, NASCAR, Sports Car and F1 drivers to compete against each other.

i remember the brands hatch f1 race in 1985 which i thought was a non championship round but was infact the european gp!. it was my first f1 race at the ripe old age of 6. mansell won it which annoyed my father no end (as a senna supporter) but for me the abiding memory is of Marc Surer's BMW and the noise it made up the Hill and into the forest.
