I'm hopefully being treated, by my better half, to a GP at one of the above for my Birthday in September. It will probably be Monza as we can combine it with a female friendly stay in Milan, and I think the tifosi atmosphere might be something special.
I would like to know if anyone has been to either Monza or Spa for the GP and what the spectating is like. Is it possible to get a good spot with just a general entrance ticket, or is a seat a must for getting a decent view? I notice from Just Tickets web-site that spa has two grades of general entrance ticket, bronze and green, anyone know the difference?
I've been to the brit GP at Silverstone over 10 years ago and I remeber having to get there at some stupid time in the morniong to claim a decent perch. Is Spa or Monza any better.
Any other practical advice about attending these events would be much appreciated.

Those are actually the only two European GP's I've been to - Monza is definitely the most female friendly on all counts. Spa is good for the atmosphere, racing and experience but everything about Monza will be a step up imho. You'll need to get a grandstand ticket though, I got one at the end of the back straight which was decent but maybe the first chicane/start-finish straight would have been better.
Transport into and out of Milan is good (free bus transfer from train station) though be prepared for a fair bit of walking to get in and out of the circuit. Other tip would be to get there very early on the Saturday and head to the Lesmo's for first practise. It was quiet with a little mist hanging in the trees when suddenly the first car came screaming through - spine tingling stuff! Watching them through there using all the rumble strip on the exit made me realise that, depressing though it is to admit it, even Alex Yoong has more talent in his right foot than I'll ever have...

It's well worth doing but I camped there with my Dad rather than my other half and the whole venue is better suited to that kind of trip really. Even if you did it 'properly' (i.e. found hotel and got seats in stands etc) then would most likely be cheaper than Italy (not forgetting the shops in Milan!). Other factor is how to get there - drive to Belgium versus cheap flights to Malpensa.

We got general admission tickets and went on both the Friday and the Saturday. By that time we sussed that we could get within 10m of the apex at the Parabolica. There were NO seats, it's actually a small wooded area and you have to pick your spot within the trees, but it was as close as you could get without being in the pit lane. For the race we moved about 100m along the track onto the last of the general admission stands before the pitlane. Concrete seats = numb arse after a few hours, but we got a great view and wife was happy that Montoya won. Most of the ticket sites will have a map of the circuit(s), and you can pick your seats from there (for the paying seats).
I originally wanted to get seats on the pit straight, but due to incompetence on my part we ended up with just the general admission tickets. The wife organised the wedding, all I had to do was get a couple of tickets, and I made an arris of it. Ho Hum...
The name for the area we were at is; Parabolica Internale.

You lucky devil, Monza and Spa are two of the best three circuits in the world to watch F1, third being Monaco of course. I can't help you with Monza, but for more Spa info along with information on tickets and seating, try the link below:

Monza it is, and we'll be staying probably at Bergamon instead of Milan. It's cheaper to fly there and looks quite nice. Not sure about how to get the train to the circuit yet though.
Still undecided on whether to get a grandstand seat, obviously the best spots are pretty expensive.
