National A & National B

Can anyone explain the difference between these two license classifications apart form the differnece in cost.

National B is what you get as your first licence, i.e. after you have passed your ARDS test.

After six signatures on your National B you can upgrade to National A. Then with six signatures on a National A you can upgrade to International C. The cost of each licence goes up with the status of licence. If you intend to only do club races in the UK then you won't need higher than a B.

But, if you want to do the higher status championships (Carrera Cup, BTCC, etc) then you'll need a National A. If you want to race in europe you'll need an international C, at Nurburgring 24hrs for example.

Don't know what licence you need for LM, might be something like International B for a prototype, and International C for a GT

You can also race in europeon club races with a national A licence.

Le Mans used to be International B in the early 90s, probably still the same
