Look how wide he was onto the rumble strip.

Damage doesn't look that bad really. The freezed picture makes it looks dramatic. Not to downplay a dangerous accident but it wasn't quite as canoed as Trulli/Silverstone or Alonso/Brazil a few years ago.

Nice of the Arabs to colour code the armco protectors to the Renaults shade of orange.

Interesting skid/tyre marks - you can trace them back all the way to the start of the rumble strip and beyond, looks like maybe TC failure?

Maybe he was referring to a gust of wind in his pants as he noticed the barrier getting closer and closer?

Maybe the renault is hypersensitive to wind!

Same here. I was watching from Brooklands and it didn't look pretty. Sideways into a gravel trap rarely does.

If you follow the skid mark created by the outer (RH) wheel, where it stops becoming an arc and becomes a straight line, it is actually a rain gully. That would be my guess. Put a wheel on the rain gully, open the taps, TC can't catch the resultant wheel spin, striaght to the scence of the accident.

Excellent roll on 08 when no TC. More punished mistakes.

Indeed. '08 is going to be very interesting. Control *SLICK* tyres, control brakes, homolgated engines, *NO* driver aids... It's going to be good!

Lets face it for the amount of money they were pouring into engine, brake, tyre development did the spectators really notice the difference? I don't think so, and I loved the technical side as mush as anyone, but it has to be about racing.

Pity they did not go for much bigger engines and much lower rev limit and sod all wings or and big fat tyres. 2.4 litres just seems a bit GAY.
