Some interesting names mentioned in there. As well as all the regulars you'd expect there was Guy Edwards (qualy crash) who was one of the F1 drivers who pulled Niki Lauda out of his flaming Ferrari at the Nurburgring in 1976, Ian Forrest is the chap who taught TV vet (DIY car builder) Mark Evans to drive a racing car and made regualr appearances during the series at Knockhill where he instructs. And even Dave Pinkney who's still racing in the BTCC.

Oh and I'd say Gravett was responsible for the crash, he cut across Dowsett too early

You mention Sytner, there was a little bit at the end with his team mate James Weaver talking about their "problems" during 1988 although many people had problems with Sytner back then. They may have been started by Mike Smith who had this uncanny knack of hitting Frank at every race and taking him off when they raced together the previous year.

Did you also notice the frustration in his wave to Weaver when letting him by?

I had to, to remember the Maserati driver. But the Commodore driver was easy, I think even a video clip has been posted on PH in the last couple of months showing a race at Oulton Park involving it.

just to make you all jealous.... last summer whilst at a local car boot sale i picked up three proper video tapes for 50p each, 1988 BTCC highlights,1989 BTCC highlights and 1991 saloon car championships highlights.
they are great to watch, although the sierras were very dominant, but the battles between teams were very good.
what i like about that era was that the drivers weren't so governed by'image' and 'saying the right thing for the sponsor', and could be very blunt when describing team mates or other drivers, if they thought someones driving was rubbish or dangerous, then they weren't afraid to say it.(as frank sytner said after just about every race with team mate mike smith!

what suprised me about mike smith is that he was actually quite a handy driver (although quite dirty and always knocking people off!), he wasn't just a celeb in a car to get some publicity.
