...sorry if I've missed something here, but I cant get my head around the "constructors trophy"

As far as I knew, this was awarded to the team who scored the most points at each round?

but if that's the case, why is it that Jean Todt took the award for ferrari on the podium, when McLaren scored more points???

by my calculations, Kimi 10pnts + Massa 3pnts = 13pnts
Alonso 8pnts + Hamilton 6pnts = 14pnts ????????????????

:S

... does kimi recieve a point for pole or something ??????????

Each race the winning team get a trophy... hence Todt for Ferrari today. At end of season one team wins contructors championship. Two completely different things.

From '50-'59 they awarded a point for fastest race lap.
Apart from that, the only points come from finishing order.

For many years, the Championship positions were calcualted using formulae that included only some of a driver's results.

Yeah, I understand how the constructor's championship works etc etc..

..but what I dont understand, is why Ferrari are the winning constructor this weekend, even tho they only scored a total of 13 points, compaired to McLaren's 14 ????

Mainly because Kimi in a Ferrari won the race, hence they get the trophy. The points on a particular weekend mean nothing towards who gets the constructors trophy for that race, just the championship

if that makes sense

For the same reason that, if in the next race Hamilton won and Raikkonen finished, second, Hamilton would get the winner's trophy even though at that point in the season Raikkonen would be ahead in the Driver's Championship.
