I used to be a regular at Arlington a few years back... knew a whole bunch of guys from the Edenbridge and Crowborough areas who were racing in stock rods, so it was always good fun!

I was at a short oval in Northern Ireland, I think near Antrim somewhere back in 1992. They ran some classes anti-clockwise and others clockwise. Quite amusing.

I have been a marshall at Foxhall raceway for seven years (stopped last Year) also spent a year racing rookie rods and a year racing a Toyota Starlet stock rod, Never really been a banger fan, though I have had some very big accidents very close to me, National hot rods are superb sub 15 seconds on a quater mile oval is bloody quick, the last two years I have been a mechanic for my friend in a Superstox, very quick cars that are allowed to use the bumper to push the one in front out of the way.
Some people turn thier noses up at oval racing but there is some serious machinery involved, If you havn't been give it a go.

i agree oval racing is definetely under rated! no matter what formula you like. its normally cheap and you always enjoy yourself. So to be honesty i dont see the point in paying to go and watch formula ones when all you see are a few flashes for a lot more than mst short oval racing tracks. Also you have a mxture of contact and non-contact racing to keep the whole family entertained

Brisca f1's for me! for me nothing beats the sight and sound of these V8 powered chevy full contact stock cars racing around a 1/4 mile oval,these cars can produce 500-700 bhp,and race on tarmac and shale,its a great form of motorsport,admission to these meetings is cheap around £12-15 per adult and as said before you can watch the whole race,not just bits!the national hot rods and smaller but just as fast formula twos are also excellent to watch,if youve not been before,give it ago,you might like it!

I haven't been to a BRISCA F1 race since 1979, but back then I was a regular at Brandon Stadium Coventry. For an evenings entertainment its hard to beat. The unamimously hated 391 Stuart Smith being chased down the straight then shoved off the track and into the fence by 55 Bert Finikin always raised a cheer from the crowd.

did you know stu smiths son andy is now world champ,berts son craig also races f1s now and is a good hard driver,get yourself to coventry on the 7th of april for the first cov meeting,its bound to be a good one!!
