A note of caution to those around Hamilton...

Is it just me, or is Hamilton looking pretty good so far in the first two races. His moves at the start show signs of how Senna could drive 110% from the off, simply fantastic.
However, one thing that has started to piss me off and it's only his second race is all this PR bullshit like: Please leave me alone on the grid and don’t let Martin speak to me as I'm getting into the ZONE!!!!!
Mr Hamilton, if you want the British race fan to take you to their heart, then you need to stop trying to be a British Schumacher (god forbid) and start being like a real British racing star and allow Brundle to talk to you. OK, forget the other Media bods on the pit straight, but Brundle is a fellow racer and a Brit like you. He understands the pressures you are under and you won't be asked dumb assed questions.
The first race I'll give you that because it must have been pretty intense. But if you can hold off Alonso in race one, and hold off a charging couple of Ferrari's in race two, then you have the balls to accept 1 or 2 questions from our Martin so the fans at home can get to know you.
If you keep giving us the cold shoulder then we shall start doing the same to you!!!
PS. Someone stop the ITV production team focussing so much on him, for god sake it is becoming sickening how that dumb assed prick James Allan is ass licking so much after just two races. When are they going to drop that idiot??

Many drivers do not want to be spoken to on the grid past and present. Nothing unusual. It's just Brundle mentioning it all the time that's annoying.
Having completed two races in his first season doesn't mean that it isn't just as much pressure. I have a lot of respect for someone that at 21, can start a race and pick off two Ferraris containing the best drivers on the grid, with no hassle.
He held Massa back, he kept Kimi off (albeit with a decent gap) and he's still learning. I really can't blame him for not wanting to deal with interviews on the grid when he does them before and after the race, and is always willing to speak frankly in them.
Do you actually follow F1? Have you watched the last two races? I haven't seen a driver as entertaining and promising as Hamilton for years, and whether he answers questions on the grid or not I support his participation in F1.

They are about to do a job that some get paid multi millions of pounds to do, I agree it would be nice to hear from all the drivers on the grid walk-about, but if they dont want to so that they can focus, let them, some of the questions asked are cr@p anyway.

Yes.
You simply are the only person who cares more about how an F1 driver handles the press than how well he drives his car.
Personally I dont care who Martin decides to ask dumb questions to. I care a hell of a lot more about the fact we have a british driver finishing on the podium.
each driver needs to have their own mental approach, i fully understand it and i think he's done an incredible job with coping with all the hype and pressures, who cares if he doesn't want to say a few half hearted words when his mind is elsewhere 5 mins before performing in front of millions, christ leave the bloke alone and let him get on with it, he's there to race
Give the poor bloke a chance, do you work for The Sun? Guy finishes on the podium and leads in his first two races, drives fast, races even better, gives his double world champion and Schumacher-beating team mate a real run for his money and STILL you're not happy, looking for the first opportunity to knock him off his perch.
And he's an exceptionally nice guy too and I hope he remains so - if you ever get the chance to meet him, you'll see what I mean. At the moment he has that "kid in a sweetshop" aura about him. He's also taken his GP2 driving style straight into F1. Having seen what happened to Jenson Button in his first couple of years of F1 fame, I think that Lewis, Anthony and RD have taken the collective decision to dampen down the hype as much as possible.

even if its lewis', the fact is, he's just started F1, he only had 1 season in GP2 which has none of the pressure...

I always find these grid walkabouts excruciating. You either have Brundle asking daft questions to a driver who really doesn't want to talk to him, or some vacuous celebrity who knows about as much about F1 as my grandmother. The worst being Brundle being ambushed by Bernie Ecclestone and made to talk to his daughter as she was presenting the Red Bull air races. God she was awful.......
Hamilton is doing the right thing, it is all new to him and just before a race I can't imagine anything worse than having to answer inane questions. If he's getting into the "zone" by not talking to the media, then maybe a few other drivers should take a leaf out of his book as he seems to be spanking them on the first couple of laps when it really matters.

I really hope the viewing public can bring themselves to cope with interviews before and after races, and leave the guy to prepare for his race in his own way.

How he handles the media is his business. I am sure he will let his actions on the track do the talking.
Graham Hill was notoriously irrascible before a race - as was Denny Hulme. James Hunt would have probably punched anyone who tried to talk to him before getting into a car.

He is britains number 1 racing driver now. And will be world champion within the next few years for sure.
What annoys me more is all the Button fans defending his appauling performances for the last 5 or so seasons.
Hamilton is switched on, focused, and has got what it takes.
The only time a driver gets to reflect on what he needs to do over the race is the 20 mins before hand where he can sit in the car and keep quite and focused. If he needs to do that like most drivers do (schumacher) in order to finish well then so be it.
Nearly every driver ive ever worked with likes a little quite time in the car before the lights go out. They all have there own precedures for starting a race.

Lets not put a stupid amount of pressure on the kid - the media will do that sure enough.
He only had 1 season in Gp2, and this is his first in F1... he's had a couple of good races, but he's still a rookie, if he wins a race this season it will be a miracle, he's got the talent, but its a tall order for a 21-year old rookie.
Expect the win next year, and a championship contender in a few years time, expecting too much too soon, you end up with a Button, and i'm sure no-one wants that!
