When ever I watch the ITV coverage now, there are those times when James Allen is at the mike and you hear those little phrases that really get on your wik, here's two of my favoutires (or should I say least favouite quips from that idiot...

'X' is now looking racy

'X' is keeping 'X' honest

(whereby X = any driver in any car!!)

A new entry for 2007 is:

Is Ferrari's strategy missing the Ross Brawn effect

any more to share with us all...

Shame is its not just him, although he is the worst culprit, the entire ITV team excepting Brudle are abysmal, the two clowns in the pit really do come out with some of the most pitiful stuff you'll ever hear.

I was pleased when they ditched Rosental but dont think Steve Ryder is any better TBH

Thought it was great when he claimed the "interesting" Mclaren strategy was paying off - what's that then ? Take the lead at the first corner and stay there !! Genius !!

In today's race whilst talking about Raikkonen and Massa:

"Rumour in the paddock has it that one of these drivers is earning five times more than the other. That's Raikkonen by the way"

He wove some tortuous analogy around a Finnish word too, didn't he?...I have this image of him sitting at his desk on the Monday before the race, chewing the end of his pencil, hair in curlers, googling frantically to fill his cheat sheet for the forthcoming race. Imagine his delight when he found some obscure Finnish word...how long before we get the "Il Leone" phrase being trotted out for Hamilton I wonder?

"Punching above his weight" is the one that makes me want to rip off his gonads and feed them to him. It's F1, not ing boxing!!

Agreed. I like Sniff Petrol's description that Allen makes one want to "throw an entire armchair at the television" as he continues to "smear his unique brand of commentary-based annoyance" all over this as-yet interesting F1 season.

A chap whose name I can't remember stepped in to cover for Rosenthal for a couple of races last year, and who seemed to be pretty good. Anyone recall who he was? Could be a good replacement for That Cock James Allen.

I think this pic (again from Sniff Petrol) says it all really.

That sniffpetrol pic is just sublime. I laugh like a drain every time I see it.

The replacement anchor man was Angus Scott, and a lot better than Jim "boxing, or maybe football" Rosenthal any day of the week. Now there was a bloke with no enthusiasm for motorsport. You think Allen is bad - Rosenthal in the commentary box would have had me headbutting the telly, not chucking sofas through it.

Besides I never trust a man who wears a polo shirt with the top button fastened. Made me wonder whether Jimbo had a lovebite he didn't want the missus to spot...

*pit-to-car radio, might be important*

That's the voice of Jock Clear. I remember talking to him when he was Villeneuve's race engineer in 1997, hugely experienced, blah blah blah

sisu is a fundamental part of finnish culture and they are very proud that finns have sisu.

in the quali program there was a bit where Allen misunderstood the word "gents" for "jense" even though the screen was telling us the team radio conversation wasnt even honda let alone JB. Brundle was able to put him right. c0ck
