Delecour returns to the stage

Sideways GT3 video signals the return of a hero

The man Colin McRae once referred to as ‘Psycho’ is back in a rally car, and that makes us very happy this lunchtime. Francois Delecour - the French rallying superstar famed for his Cosworth and Peugeot drives and his fiery temperament - has been out testing the 996 GT3 RS he will use in this year's French rally championship.

The car will run in the GT class, which last year saw the works Aston Martin Vantage battle against the Porsches, and runs alongside the regular classes for WRC and Group N machinery.

For a brief glimpse of the man at (sideways) work click on the video link below. Is this what we want to see from our rallying? We certainly think so...

He was won of the quickest guys around in the WRC in the early Nineties. And probably the maddest.

Had his top flight ralying career effectively curtailed after a nasty accident when driving his mate's roadgoing F40 in which he both broke his legs.

Good to see him back.

Brilliant! I was always a Delecour fan because he was such a fruit cake.

Might have to dig out the French Rally Championship dates...
