not content with bitching about other cars on the grid last year (that *might* just scare his precious drivers), this year he want's his cars to be un-restricted so they can win!

funny how last year an every series the Viper ran in it was the front running GT3 car (with the ballast etc).

Maybe he should look at his drivers/setup for answers rather than bitching on about it to Stephane Ratel....

well, looking at the MST data I would suggest that they are certainly not a mile off the pace, qualifing will in the top half of the grid, and in the race results they are not exactly a mile off either (3rd in the second race and less than 1 sec slower than the winner).

considering this is the first round and a lot of cars are new to the teams/Avon/etc. I think it;s somewhat premature to be making such noises, but then again, he did the same last year at the first meeting.....

The Viper is off the pace atm! Have any of you seen the sheet outlining all restrictions for all of the cars? The Viper has also been restricted more than it was in FIA GT3 last year! We have had a ride height increase which some say is dangerous and 100kg more weight, not to mention the already massive air restrictors! I konw its early but I think its fair enough for Mortimer to complain.. The Viper was looking competitive until after the Silverstone media day where the extra restrictions were brougt into place!

on that basis, I think you will find that 997GT3 actually has more of a case here for being dis-advantaged, and would you suggest that all the temas that were at the bottom half of the field should also have a case?

at the end of the day, you are always going to have these kind of problems with GT3 because of the way the restrictions are done (as opposed to NGT/GT-2 type rules).

If one person complained about the Vipers restrictions then yes, you might be able to cry 'sour grapes', but I personally spoke to the bosses of RPM and Brookspeed, Paul and Mike from Moore Racing plus a number of the pitcrews and they all said the same thing; The Viper has been over handicapped. Even Stephan Ratel agrees.

Getting the balance right is hard I would imagine but I sincerely hope that the correct balance is struck soon. I don't know if you were at Oulton Park last weekend Scuffers, but if so I'm sure you saw how the vipers were lagging behind despite some fantastic driving. I was at the approach to lodge and the difference in the braking zones was amazing. The F430's tended to brake approx 40 yards from the corner, whilst the Vipers started braking halfway from the bridge!

But its not worth arguing about here. Lets see what the powers that be sort out for Donington. Besides, there will be a whole new 'discussion' then regarding the Gallardos.

SRO handicapped the corvettes in 2005 to the point where there was no point in competing so all the 'vettes withdrew. I think someone ones Porsche or Ferrari to always win the British GT races......
