James Toseland. Ex-World Superbike champion, race winner and looking good to win the Championship again this year to be only the 2nd person to win it on a different make of bike, and he's a brilliant pianist as well.
But he'll hardly get a mention in the show, as usual for non-football, rugby and cricket based sports.

Toselands a good call, also the little lad who's just started the 125GP season at 15 or 16. Saw an interview with him, down to earth kind of kid. Shame he got nailed in his first race by the pole sitter who started from the back of the grid.

In the 60's, 70's and 80's sport was filled with personalities, but in this era of vast sponsorship, sports marketing and huge TV Rights there are no personalities. It should be called sports performer!! The Laureus Awards are pretty interesting stuff, BBC does not have any sport to show so highlights will be all that's on offer.
As a sportsperson these days you're not allowed to have opinions, otherwise you risk p*ssing off half the target market of your sponsors and lose most of your income. Blame capitalism. And terrorists. And climate change. And if you've got owt left, leave a bit of blame for Ken Livingstone, he deserves it.

I doubt that James Hunt would have been given a race drive in these sad corporate days of motorsport. The sport is duller without the likes of these true personalities...
