BTCC at Rockingham, ITV 3 $ o'clock

Ps. Lot's of carnage here today at Rockingham. I'm just going to watch it and probably laugh with embarrassment. The only therapy will be to watch some proper car racing on DVD/video, maybe some old 1970's modified saloon racing, or even the under 7's karting. They have better manners and driving ethics than the BTCC.
Highlights on from 0125 to 0150 tomorrow morning on ITV (or ITV1 as they like to call it now) if you can be bothered to set the video for a whopping 25 minutes of coverage...
...which will start a minute or two late...
...minus an ad break...
...minus about a minute of opening credits...
...minus some tedious buildup and grid interviews...
...with jumps from lap 4 to lap 11 or similar...
...covering three races in realistically less than 15 minutes of on-screen racing.
So, not a lot of point them bothering to screen it really. Less profitable than ITV Play I expect.

Turkington is also never far from the banging!! it aint racing if you just push the bloke off who's in front of you.
best close racing there is when its right, but when they just push and pay no penalty....................?

I thought Chilton's tap on Neal was pretty minor and it looked like Neal was slow into the corner.
No preference on either driver there on my part, but likewise only my opinion.
Agree re Turkington, but Neal seems to be just as often mixed up in the wheelbanging. When both of those guys were out of the race or in clear air with no-one around them, the incident rate seems to drop massively. There was a lot of clean racing out there once the first lap stuff was out of the way.
Had some sympathy with Turkington in race 2. Neal turned across his nose trying to squeeze him onto the grass - no excuse nor need for it. His opinion, that Turkington was trying to go for a gap that wasn't there, is hardly tenable considering Neal was on the inside approaching a left-hand corner, but inexplicably moving to the right... taking the racing line is all very well but not when there's someone plainly already on it.
Neal was a favourite of mine a few years back, same as for many other people I think. He perpetuates the independent up against the manufacturers line but to my mind that'swearing thin considering the amount of incident he gets mixed up in.
And Dave Pinkney, John George and Jason Hughes didn't do themselves any favours. Especially George, who had a right go at Chilton without justification. So aggressive in defending someone already alongside him, I wondered whether Schumacher was out of retirement already...
On a more positive note, good results from Mat Jackson and not a bad showing from Onslow-Cole - a few glaring mistakes aside. Would have liked to see how Adam Jones would have run, though. Quick at Brands and in practice, shame about his engine.
First season of BTCC I've been bothered about in ages. The range of cars and skill levels has really mixed it up again. More like the early '90s and it only got better from there.
Bit less cynicism and panel bashing though lads. It's motor racing not survival of the strongest. You've shown you can do it - now do it twice in a row...

I'm not Chilton's biggest fan by any means, but he's a lot better than Twat Neal.
