car covers for cars on trailers

hi can anyone recomend a decent all weather car cover to use on my race car when its on the trailer going to events. I've changed to an open car and dont want a wet seat to greet my bum when i get to the circuit.

I think you'll need to get one made specifically to the shape of your car to stop it blowing away / rubbing the bodywork to shreds when being towed.

Not sure what kind of car you have but could you not get some kind of tonneau cover made just for the drivers compartment?

Let us know if you find something. I've been looking for ages with no luck. The closest I came was a bike cover but it wasn't long enough. I now resort to a (self)taylored piece of tarp, wrapped around the cockpit area and taped down. The other alternative is to make the seat etc waterproof, then just use a chamois leather when you get there.

The problem with an open car is not just the seat, but all the switch gear etc run the risk of getting soaked too. It's something I've looked into and come to the conclusion that even a fitted cover runs a real risk of being shredded while on the trailer.

One solution I've thought of is to get some brackets welded onto the trailer, then get some poles bent into a U shape and get a curtain-sider company to make up a cover attached to the poles. The one advantage is if you kip in a tent at the circuits you can used the trailer as a tent.

as mentioned, a covered trailer is the answer, you'll rub through the paint with a car cover.

That all sounds a bit expensive - I've been using a Halfords furry-backed waterproof cover on my trailer and it has been fine, even in the rain. I tie it all up using a long piece of rope wrapped around the car body and trailer crossrails along the length of the car. It takes a few minutes to put on and take off, but it's very cheap and hasn't damaged the car at all.

A while back,I had a local sailmaker make a bespoke cover for my car, which covered the cockpit and the engine/gearbox end of the car. It was held on by straps that passed under the car and were then tightened - it worked a treat, and did not cost the earth either.

However, I now use a BJ Racebox - a much better idea!

since i blew my last tupence on the engine for the racer i dont quite have 5 or 6K to spend on a race shuttle obviously the prefered option

so plan b is - Just bought a hamilton moltex waterproof fleece linded cover that has ties underneath it and decked out the minno with the anti slip decking in the center to try and stop the wind getting underneath it.

Off to brands on monday so we'll see how it fairs, i'll let you know how it gets on or alternatively if you hear of a massive pile up on the M1 casued by a flying stray car cover last seen attached to a grey and orange frogeye on a trailer down the M1 then it probarbly hasnt gone that well.
