Elephants in F1

Looks like Honda are having some whackie thoughts in their design offices, I know all the teams are adding little appendages and wings all over the place, but does everyone agree, that the new ones at Honda are a little OTT?

Whether or not the Honda Formula 1 team will use the new wings during the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix is uncertain at the moment. It is interesting to see though the team saved their new wing to test it on the fourth and final day of testing.

some of these smart designers arn't arf stupid, these ugly designs are always thrown out on a technicality, pursuing them to manufacture is just a waste of time and money.

You are guilty of making the assumption that these were even tested in the wind tunnel first...

I would think so, they wouldn't do it if it didn't. Height wise it looks as though it's easily within nose cone parameters as it's still lower than the top (highest part) of the survival cell so as to not block driver vision. It depends on width and if there is a ruling over it. It's not part of the wing so it'll be outside wing rules as no one would ever mount a front wing that high.

I wouldnt be surprised if they kept the quicklift as part of the chassis, the way things are going at the moment. Poor old Jenson, he must be gutted.

It does make you wonder how the cars would look without any restrictions...
Most likely even more ugly than now with every surface sprouted with appendages, themselves with sticking out bits.
