Congratulations to Andy Race and Mikey Holden

A quick well done to the Guys for starting and finishing their first two races in very difficult conditions. I wouldnt say it was wet, But I've come home with Webbed feet!!!!
Good to see you both collecting some silverwear...
Sadly our day didnt get much further than three slow laps in qualifying. But at least I got home by 5pm
The prognosis is currently a Fried ECU
I also hear that everyone got home with the cars in one piece so well done to everyone...

Can I congratulate all the drivers who picked up trophy's at the rain soaked Penbrey circuit last weekend and a very special thanks to our very own Mickey Holden in his first race in class "C" of championship. It was good to see Mickey pushing Sam Head and Sam having to up his lap times by two seconds to keep Mickey at bay. Mickey came away with two silver cups for his efforts and also was 5/10th of winner Sam Head's fastest lap.
Sam Head. Lap time. 1:12.310
Mickey Holden. Lap time. 1:12.831
Sam Head. Lap time. 1:12.310
Mickey Holden. Lap time. 1:12.831
Well done Mickey for a) finishing your first race in what I hear were appalling conditions and b) pushing Sam Head in race 2.
The MST reports can be very misleading - at first I thought Mickey was a lap behind Sam in race 2. I guess what happened was that on his last lap Tim passed Mickey just before the finish line, and Sam just after it. You have to look at the lap charts pretty closely to understand what happened - I'm sure the old style MST reports were clearer.
Anyway, well done (and to Andy Race too) - and indeed well done to all who braved the elements.
Kind regards
Andy

So, cards on the table guys, just how much power is that tuned 3.9 v8 pushing out (class C regs state up to 3ltr as far as i can see) . Dont wanna take anything away from mick, job well done, but the way you made all the ground up in the straights, that i had pulled in the corners suggests a rather chunky amount of grunt. A fast track like snett will show. Keep it shiny side up. looking forward to the next few. Regards Sam
Sam, by the same token at Mallory you were keeping the Cerb honest, if not edging out on the straights, and you're trying to tell us an ex-Moore Racing engine is "standard"? But I agree the whole setup is farcical at present, which is why I'm in no hurry to join in. Hopefully the powers that be are listening and we will have a watertight set of regs published this summer that everyone can abide by next season.
Also remember if you have too much grunt early on in life you'll rely on that to make up for lack of experience and at the end of the day skill. Everyone starting out in racing should be forced to do a season of racing 850cc Minis or 2CVs, get a feel for what is required to carry corner speed.
Regards
Iain
ETA Sam, If you want to see a dyno graph for the Chimaera drop me an email and I'll send it over.

What just like you did Iain
Actually the Old v6 tasmin does a good job of that( quite heavy with not much power). having to learn to 4wheel drift the thing round corners to keep the exit speed up.. That was always the pita when testing with Ginettas and caterham academy cars around. They are quicker on the brakes and acceleration ( and on the whole lap), but the number of times i almost hit the back of one as they came past under braking and then almost stopped before turning in, with me trying to carry a good 10-15mph more than the through the corners...FWIW: Sams engine is 110% within any of the rules i've seen, published or otherwise. Standard was only ever mentioned in discussions about 4ltr RV8's
Edited to say :- A good job or course unless you forget to turn right at Gerrards

Neil.
too damn right
Neil.
probably have more chance on the green stuff.the "standard" comment was refering to paddock talk, don't get hung up over it
and yes too much grunt compared to talent applies to me too, possibly more so, and its something I recognised hence I was looking at the mazdas for this year, as it turns out, 2cvs are about my level regards

Hi Guys, John Reid sets the limits on cc and power we run in the class we are in. As you know Green Star Racing and Mickey, we are in our 1st season of racing TVR cars, and follow all regulations and instructions that the powers at be supply. All engine parts in our race engine have been supplied by TVR Power with the class regulations in mind, the motor has been built by Andy Minns TVR race engine engineer and obviously after the Pembrey meeting has built a decent motor for us. We have had the car back to TVR Power for Dom to set the motor up and dyno test it. We are well within the limits put down by John Reid in class C and a set of dyno sats have been supplied to John by TVR Power. We are looking forward to another exciting race with you Sam and may the best man win buddy. Regards Johnny G Star.
Hi Guys, I'm sure I'm probably just being daft or have missed something but these are the basic regs as printed on the TVR Car Club website:-
Regulations 2007
The 2007 series classes are as follows:
Class A: Above 5.0ltr and 350 bhp
Up to 3.0ltr with forced induction/turbos/superchargers & above 350bhp
(Cars distinguished by a white roundel or square number background)
Class B: 3.0ltr to 5.0ltr and less than 350bhp
Up to 3.0ltr with forced induction/turbos/superchargers & less than 350bhp
(Cars distinguished by a yellow roundel or square number background)
Class C: Up to 3.0ltr without forced induction/turbos/superchargers
It seems fairly straight forward doesn't it?

john, for clarity, what are the regs you've been told, cos the rules Sam is playing to differ to what i've been told?

John Reid changed class "C" from 3Ltr to 4Ltr, Max BHP 240 normally aspirated motors. He did this so as to open up class "C" and get more cars in to it. Take a look at last year Howard Bryan in class "C" had to race alone at some of the meetings and if not alone he only had one other car to race against, no fun when class "A" and "B" are passing you all the time ask Howard. Regards, Johnny G Star. PS, And look at this year Class "C" a five or six race cars entered.Regards

THE BRSCC WEB SITE says:
The Challenge is divided into three main classes:
Class A – includes anything above 350 Bhp.
Class B - caters for any car with a maximum engine output of 350 Bhp.
Class C - for modified 4 or 6 cylinder engines but excludes Turbo or Supercharger. Only the standard Rover V8 engine is eligible.
Edited to say :-
John Will Send details out to all racers over the weekend clarifying the Regulations. The aim at the end of the day is to provide some good close racing within the classes.

If it will attract more cars on the grid, then opening up class C would certainly help that class. So far it appears that there have only been 3 class C cars entered at each race which isn't great for the drivers.
Anyway, perhaps G you could see that references to the Reg's for this year are the same on ALL sites, so it's less confusing to those who may wish to join in. Cheers,
Steve

I've asked Ralph to match the club site with the info thats on BRSCC If there is any need to I'll get these updated again after any clarification from JR.Steve
Dont get me wrong guys, not the type to winge, just need to know whats gonna happen with regs, now and for next year, i am not gonna give 50 bhp away next year, and now is the time plans need to be put in place with regards to getting a motor sorted for next season, perhaps i will just pop a 4ltr in a tuscan for the hell of it!!! Regards to all, just hope i can keep you behind me mick. Goog on ya.

I suspect you chaps need regs which limit torque as well as BHP in each of the classes. Especially with bigger engines being run in C and forced induction in B
At least in the old days there was only one car with a bigger engine than all the others, and to be fair it was his train set...
