What are you ready?

I have read several bio's from the world of F1 and I'm currently reading: The Life of Senna by Tom Rubython, Forward by Gerhard Gerger, photos by Keith Sutton.

The wife bought it for me for Xmas as she knows I'm a huge fan of the guy. I've read several before but I feel that they were released too soon after his death to really touch on the man in great depth, that's where this book is different. Finally got my head into it and finding it a stunning insight into Senna the man.

Anyone read a decent bio recently they can recommend?

Not motorsport, but still sports: Paula Radcliffe's Auto-Bio is good. As is Joe Simpson's Touching the Void and further writings about what motivates people to put themselves in danger (This Game of Ghosts, The Beckoning Silence and more).

I finished reading Mon Ami Mate at the weekend, a fantastic read (if a little fact-heavy in places), although pricey at £50 (my brother's local library had it, real stroke of luck). It is 350 large pages with normal size text so probably going on 600 pages in reality.

I've now started Christopher Hilton's Le Mans '55, which is a good read so far.

Kind of - I can whole-heartedly recommend The Grand Prix Saboteurs, which is sort of a biography.

It's very very good.

Old'ish one, but highly recommend 'Backfire' by the late Alan Clark.

Stuff on all his cars from the XK120 he had at uni to the Silver Ghost he wouldn't restore or even wash as it annoyed the RROC.

Very entertaining writer and tips like lhd cars are better for overtaking as you can get as close as the vehicle your passing in case of oncoming traphic - genius.

Can't believe no one has mentioned this, but Murray Walker's Unless I'm Very Much Mistaken is a very good read
