I have to admit, just been reading today's Autosport and there is a piece in it about the 2 new circuits (sorry I mean street parades) being confirmed for next year, and it said that this is part of Bernie's long term goal to move to street circuits??

What the FECK is all this about???

Excuse me, but we have a major issue about the quality of racing and a serious lack of overtaking and the little shite wants to move to a season full of street circuits?

I know many feel that a season without Monaco is like F1 without Ferrari (Total ballshite IMO) but let's be honest, this is not America, I thought F1 was about racing the fastest cars on the best 'circuits' of the world - what is going on...?

Anything that means we are not just on the Tilke tour though is surely a good idea? Street circuits bring punters close to the circuits give a sense of speed, result in high rates of attrition and often produce drama. A variety of circuits means that designers have to compromise and will make cars that work better or worse on different circuits thus making the story of the season more interesting. A car that is brilliant in Monaco won't necessarily be that great at Monza and vice versa. Overtaking is great but the qunatity of it is not (and has never been) what makes F1 interesting. If that is all that is required watch FF1600 and be happy.

1) Scapping monaco is out of the question and gross heresy, way too much history and glamour.

2) Please shut the fk up about the lack of overtaking. THEY ARE WORKING ON IT. Be patient and let Bernie deal with the teams and their silly politics.
Winglets and TC are going to banned soon, slicks are coming back in the next 2/3 years

3) When the tyres and aero have been sorted you will soon see some good racing on street tracks. Champ Car in Las Vegas a few months ago had cars going three abreast into the corners because their aero supports overtaking.

Once they've sorted the overtaking problems I'm sure F1 drivers will be doing the same insane manouvers as the GP2 guys are doing now.

street circuits are meant to be more of a spectacle. they will go down by waterfronts and high tech office blocks. ooh ahh.

ignore the fact that the circuits will be non-entities in terms of layout and will be crap to drive compared to the traditional 'drivers circuit' which we seem to be losing at a fair old rate. ignore the fact that they are all proposed in very rich cities, with little racing heritage. they will cost little to implement and bernie will get lots of moolah. the manufacturers can sell their cars due to increased exposure in these developing countries and may give bernie a cut, so he gets a little more moolah. this is why he's pushing for it. and this is why it will happen.

The problem is that technical specifications are so tight, and rigorous nowadays, that cars at the pointy end of the grid are only a tiny percentage apart. I think a relaxation of the rules are in order, and give the designers a bit of freedom to come up with innovative ideas, and different concepts.
