Magny-Cours looks almost certain to host its final Formula One race next month, with the sport's commercial boss Bernie Ecclestone making it clear that he does not want Grand Prix racing to return to the venue.
The French motorsport federation (FFSA) has already stated that it does not want to hold a race there in 2008, and Ecclestone has now insisted that a new venue - potentially in Paris – will be the future host of a French GP.
"We should not have gone there in the first place," said Ecclestone after confirming that there would be no return to Magny-Cours. "And we only did so because of former FISA president Jean-Marie Balestre."
Ecclestone has spoken several times about his desire for a Grand Prix in Paris, but despite speculation suggesting Disneyland Paris could host the event, there are no firm plans yet for a venue.
"If somebody would offer me a Paris Grand Prix, I would sign a contract for the next 99 years immediately," added Ecclestone.

Where is that?Usually I can spot a track a mile off just by looking at something like that without any names at all. Hell send me a photo of part of any of the current UK tracks and I'd expect to be able to name at least 9/10. This has be stumped though!
Why build a new facility when they have one that just needs a few temporary grand stands, already holds major international events and has recently upgraded its pit facilities. It is roughly the same length as Monteal and Indianpolis and was the location of the first ever Grand Prix in 1906.

As much as i would love to see F1 cars tearing down the Mulsanne, the circuit would get horribly molested to suit Bernie & Max's safety requirements. Plus the drivers would complain about the lap being too long/bumpy. Leave the full track to the sportcars. The Bugatti track would be like Indianapolis - there are better race tracks in the USA (laguna Seca, Watkins Glen) but they don't meet the safety requirements or have the history that Indy has (as you may know the Indy 500 was once part of the F1 calendar).
Bugatti may not be the best track in France but its got the history of being the venue of the first Grand Prix and it does not mean building a whole new venue when there is a perfectly servicable track already in existence.

Modern F1 cars would just play "Follow my leader" round there. It would be just like Monaco. Forget what you have seen in the 1979 race, modern downforce, brakes, acceleration and dirty air will kill anything similar to that race happening again.
