Having just returned from the Brands Hatch meeting we would like to thank V de V UK and Gary Ward for all the hard work that went into this inaugural meeting.
Other UK race organisers would do well to take note of the way this event was run and I'm certain that the stature and support for this series will grow and grow. The race entries were lower than expected due to the French boys not showing. Apparently, they are upset with the British contingent winning all three of the V de V europe races so far this season and have shown their displeasure by tossing their onions out of their prams.
It made a change to be treated as well as we were and it was obvious that a great deal of thought had been put in to make the day easier for the competitors; cars scrutineered in the garages, fuel delivered directly to garages and plenty of promo stuff for the teams etc,etc
All in all, a very well run event with more track time per event than half a season of Britsports
Roll on Snetterton!

I very much agree with you comments heath.
my second visit to Brands, the 1st time it ate a gear box in the Mini Challenge and this time an engine.
I very much enjoyed the track time i had but just wished i could have made the race!!!!
Some Technical Help Please - there is a sensor located on the back of the engine which helps to set the inlet and outlet crank timing. On a norma there is only one and on all other cars they are both mounted. On saturday we were advised to change the sensor fromt he exhaust outlet to the inlet (which we did). Soon after this was done the cam timing chain snapped and a rocker roller broke. Can anyone shed any light on this?

No, it's not the same as Britsports which is basically sprint racing with two drivers. VdeV UK is about endurance racing and although this years race lengths are only 105 minutes (due to refuelling system EU/UK differences ie no dry-break), next years championship races will be 4, 6 or 8 hours in length and will be 2 or 3 day events.
From the drivers point of view, the available track-time is huge compared to sprint racing.

Not being perdantic but i think you mean the cam timing. The exhaust valve timing is static and not controlled by the VTC, the inlet is changed on a k20.Has the VTC sensor been swapped on to the VTEC sensor? If so, it will increase the advance on the inlet cam and not just increase the valve overlap. The result would be valve/piston contact and broken rockers especially if the ECU has been mapped to a single sensor setup?.
Thats how i understand the iVTEC system but i may be wrong?
Sounds nasty anyway

The UK entry fees for this year are about the same as Britsports.
I would imagine them to be higher for the longer races next year, but still excellent value for the track-time available.
And who ever knows what the French will do.

Misleading on the start time though, as the Brands race started at 15:15 last Saturday instead of the 16:00 indicated on the V de V site... Gassing Station | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
