This is probably a one in a gazillion type of question, but my son is a HUGE Jenson Button fan and we are attending the USGP starting with the second session of practice Friday.

How do I T R Y and get a photo JB with my 9 year old son?

Buy a ticket for the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Almost all the GP guys will be there next weekend and you will have no problems getting photos/signatures of from them, especially as everyone will be trying to get close to Lewis Hamilton, so Jenson should be no probs at all

Unfortunately he is currently driving a dog of a car.
He is one of the better drivers in F1 so I am sure that his day will come, again. And when it does all the people who are knocking him now will be licking his bum. Just like they are with LH just now.

Not really no. You may as well be a Coulthard fan.

I love it when we hear so and so is doing badly because the car is shit and then when they are doing well its because they are the best driver not becuase they have the best car.

This years car has been developed with input from him and is dreadful. If anyone says he had no input then whats he still doing at Honda having paid £20m to do so?

Sadly, no matter how good the driver, they are never going to be able to provide any meaningful input at the design stage of the development of a car. The fact is that if a car is fundamentally poor in one department, it's a bit much to expect them to take a course in dSPACE or Matlab to assist the design engineers in correcting this fundamental deficiency...

A driver can only say that something is good or bad, after they have driven it. That means it has to be designed and made first.

Perhaps test pieces they had in winter on the mule worked but putting them on the 2007 car didn't. Not the drivers fault, they are paid to drive, they pay other people to design.

If a car starts out fairly competitive in winter testing but seemingly goes backwards through the season, you could fairly point at the driver's input as a possible cause of the car not being developed well. However, if its designed / born a dog I can't see how the same can be said.

It's Nick Fry - stuff like the total cock-up with the fuel rig during pit stops all points to bad management. They need him out - sharpish.

I dont like Nick Fry and I suspect he has a lot to do with it, but it could also be the bigwigs back in Japan meddling in the structure / running too much and not allowing him to do the job.

Nick Fry has a pretty good CV behind him, so he's no dim wit.

OK, successful in Business does not automatically make you good in F1, but to point the finger at him is a little under-handed.

They always seem to be able to turn an OK chassis into a pretty good one throughout the season, so why can't they build a good one out of the box?

Does the main designer work with the development team or do they have their own group of designers working on developments while the main guy works on next years chassis.

If the latter is the case, then maybe they should swap places...
