Not trying to be churlish, but what would make this thread the "Official" USA GP thread, apart from the fact that you labelled it as such?

To be fair I think its a follow-on from previous weekends where we've had an "official" thread each weekend started around this time to prevent the forum from being clogged up with lots of different threads on each session etc.

I'm sorry, am I not 'experienced' enough to start something 'official'?

Right...so the solution is to create another thread to add to the three already going?

Not a big deal. I just get annoyed when someone announces that what he's doing is "official", as when Autocar magazine road tested the Veyron this spring and declared that the car's top speed was finally official - a year after everyone in the world knew what the car's vmax was.

I shall assume that the OP meant "Official" ironically.wink

I have to say, I've always had a very good opinion of you due to your major macca F1 thread, but I think its just plummeted.

Bit officious really, but isnt the op OFFICIAl, ironically mixing upper and lower case to reveal a subtle play on the word?

By the way, Benny Hill ?
just where do ITV get off ?

I don't know that it has anything to do with any of us being experienced, my friend. You or I could be a first-time poster or someone with 10,000+ who had been here since '99, and neither of us would be closer to being official.

IMO, something on PH would be "official" when someone who works at PH or an appointed moderator made a statement on behalf of the organisation. Otherwise any of us could post anything, call it "official", and the term would lose its meaning.

As I said above, I'll assume that you meant it ironically.

Maybe I can officially state that "XYZ General GP Thread" should be used as the official title in future to appease everyone wink

Ah, so you had fallen into the trap of confusing a great car with an idiot who was lucky enough to own one.
At least you won't make that mistake again!

Cheers.

Or perhaps we could call it the "Unofficial XYZ GP Thread", and we will all be so impressed by the poster's modesty that we'll flock to it.

Anyhow, enough of these distractions, caused by me.
Let's hope that we have a great race tomorrow, and that the season continues to be as exciting as it's been so far.

watching the live timing from the F1 website, lewis is going quicker than anyone else on the fuel burn stage by about half a second, and heikki is running nearly 3 seconds slower. surely lewis could save some fuel by slowing a little?

He didn't need to as he gets it all back anyway.
