The first 2 hours were frankly perfect weather with glorious sun shine, the sky opened on the whole circuit by 2hours 20 and remained wet to the finish although it was'nt raining in the last hour.
The race also finished in complete darkness after starting 15 minutes late.
Lots of crashes, several break downs including most of the championship contenders.

Wow so another win for COOK/PELLE they've got to be near the top of the championship now with the topcats and V8 star and falcon not doing to well this race!! What happens if an invitation car takes the fastest lap and finishes in a high scoring points positon do they still get the points or is it passed to the next championship car??? Not to many britsports cars then competed?
From a team point of view, we had a fantastic trip - our first ever race outside of Snetterton, Brands or Silverstone. And what with all the red flags Thursday & Friday, we had covered less than 25 race laps of Spa prior to the race.
10th overall and 3rd in class exceeded all of our expectations, a big well done to all the guys involved with Jemco Racing. Thanks also to the Topcats boys, who after enduring a difficult and disappointing race were the first to come along and say well done.
Sad to see so much damage to cars over the three days, but the track, weather and other factors appeared to be unforgiving. Hope everyone got home safely.

I'll leave Darren to explain the Topcats situation, but suffice to say Mick Mercer and Adam Sharpe clashed at Blanchemont on lap two, putting them both in the barrier.
What the cold, hard result sheet doesn't show is John Gaw's superb performance. He drove his Nobbys Nuts off, particularly during his second stint, when he caught and passed Franck, then established a commanding lead before, in the closing stages, handing the car over to Jean-Marc Rotsaert for his only stint in the car. Cookie had his problems, though, with the Porsche's gearbox having a mind of its own, and Franck cocked-up the pit stop when it started raining, missing the box, stalling, and having to be pushed back and forth to get onto the pit apron.
Great show from Chris Wilson, too (first time in a Porsche, first time at Spa), and welcome back Simon Mason!
Andy, it never dawned on me that Jemco hadn't travelled much. Well done - Jemco are one of the teams that truly embody the spirit of Britcar.

The race from Topcats point of view was something of a disaster! Testing on the thursday was affected by the very changeable weather and also the number of incidents on track. The last session gifted us with four laps! Fridays free practice was better with some good running and some good lap times. Qualifying for us was good and we managed to grace the fourth row for the start with the no 26 car. The race however was a different story.... from a brilliant start Mick took the car to 1st position at La Source and then continued for a short time with some very quick cars in pursuit, over the course of the lap a few cars overtook and things seemed to be settling down, on lap two however Blanchemont proved itself as a demon of a corner, in Mick's own words " I think i got the right rear on the white line and that was it, the back came round, regained traction and shot off into the wall on the inside of the corner collecting the falcon in the process."
I can confirm that Mick is ok, he is gutted that his car is trashed and that the Falcon was involved. As for the team car i'm sure Darren will be along soon to give you guys his report.
To the lads at Jemco, you thoroughly deserve your success, a great team effort from a great team. Keith.

This was our first race of the 2007 season as the car was only completed on the Wednesday before the weekend, we didn't have time to test or check the car out so our new preparation team, Neil Garner Performance Engineering, really had their work cut out. They did however do a brilliant job of setting up the car as we had a faultless run throughout the 4 hr race finishing 14th overall, and 5th in GTC class despite 5 pit stops totaling 13 plus mins
The two extra stops were for driver relief, must have been the hot dogs !!

The garages were impressive if unfinished, I reckon you could drive from the back of the garage and vitually hit 3rd gear by the time you got to the pitlane!!
There is not a great deal of room outside the garages - slightly larger than Brands Hatch, but I would imagine the F1 paddock and hospitality units will fill it and then some.

on every corner.

I just wish I could have gone. I'll be at Oulton though, in a couple of weeks time. (I'm at Oulton this weekend too for the BTCC!)
Amazing weekend, amazing circuit and great pics Izzy. How do I get some? Thanks to Geoff Steel Racing for a fantastic car and support at Spa! This is what happened for 2 days after the race....
