I am thinking of driving later this year to a European Grand Prix and maybe another European major race.

I would be grateful of recommendations as to which is the best experience maybe similarish to a Le Mans type trip eg maybe camping, great pre race atmosphere and all round good fun etc.

Your views and experience are gratefully welcomed but I am probably just thinking about the French or German Grand Prix.

Ive not been during a grand prix but have been a couple of times for trackdays and Id say it would have to be Spa in Belguim, only a few hours from Calais and must have far more charisma and character than either of the two you've mentioned.

I think a lot of Brits do the Spa weekend in a similar vein to Le Mans as well, I dont think the same can be said of the French / German grand prix weekends.

Spa. Even the Germans were friendly and donated their left over food to us on the camp site smile.

But then I have only been to there or the French one.

As above, Spa. There's a great atmosphere and plenty of great viewing spots.
I'd recommend booking Silver or Gold seats though because it gets pretty rammed on the banks in the Bronze areas. You can then wander around knowing you have a seat for the main event wink
Stay for the whole weekend and enjoy the party. As mentioned above, even the Germans are friendly and the Finns are insane smile
I used to go every year instead of Silverstone but have done Silverstone for last couple years because of babies etc. and it's not a patch on Spa rolleyes

Another vote for Spa. Despite going there dozens of times over the years I've only been to one GP there, which was 2000 (the year of that epic Hakkinen pass).

The Germans were really friendly and the Dutch just plain nuts (but great fun).

Spa is a magical place and so much closer than many people realise. Just beware of the toilets...

Guys thanks for the tips.

I will probably do Spa and the German GPs.

French one is a bit soon after Le Mans as I am still knackered!
