One of my most memorable races in the good old days of F1, I have found a clip on You Tube of the race but its only around 4 mins.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=e4lkJgmQuHY

Does anyone know where I can see a longer clip, maybe from the BBC?

I remember sitting on the edge of my seat when I was a lad watching John Watson working his way up through the field.....he had a lot of luck!

It's on here, you need to register and also have software that'll download bittorrent's like Azureus or another.

That clip is FROM the Duke video/DVD.

I'd like to be able to see recordings from the original BBC broadcast which would have been covered live.

Eric the race coverage uploaded to the website I linked to is the BBC transmission (1hr49mins and over 1gb for each GP). Someone has been converting their video collection.

I'm surprised that as recently as 1981 jump starting was allowed.

His name caused all sorts of problems back then. He was often referred to as "Alayn" as well.

cjs,

I was there on the day and it was a fantastic time. smile Back in the good old days when you could erect your own "tower" near the bank on the edge of the circuit and enjoy the racing. We were just at the exit of what is now the Becketts/Maggots complex and could watch them disappearing down Hanger straight.

Happy Days.

Matt

I managed to download the GP, finally got my head around bit Torrents, it took about two hours to download, just need to find a spare two hours to enjoy the race all over again!

There are plenty of good races on that site, I have to try and remember some of my favorites!

Thanks again for your help!
