Photography at Spa-Francorchamps..

I'm thinking about pulling a sicky from work and nipping along to the F1 test day at Spa in July. All teams will be attending and at 20 Euros it's a damn sight cheaper than attending the real GP, with the bonus of there being very few people so I can walk and take photos from wherever.

Trouble is I've never been to Spa, anyone been before and has advice on best point for taking photos, or any other advice about attending test days?

If you have a decent zoom lens then it's great as you can stand on the spectator banks high above the cars and, more importantly, the fences. Just don't think you'll do justice to Eau Rouge easily - it's amazing how much the camera flattens it.

Thanks for the info, glad to hear that you can get above the fence line easily I have a Canon 20D with a 100-400mm lens plus a 1.4 extender if I need it, so should be OK.

I'll wait until much closer the time and see what the weather is like before deciding whether to go, don't want to drive all the way there and find that no one runs because the weather is crap!

You'll do fine with the lens you have - mine only goes to 300mm and works well.
