LEWIS HAMILTON IN FIRST BIG SCREEN
PERFORMANCE AS Vue BROADCASTS LIVE
ACTION OF BRITISH GRAND PRIX

For the first time in Formula One(TM) history, fans
will be able to watch the Grand Prix live on the big
screen, thanks to Vue Cinemas, which is
broadcasting the British Grand Prix directly from
Silverstone to 30 multiplexes across the UK on
Sunday 8 July in amazing HD Quality and Dolby
Digital 5:1 Surround Sound.

This will be a great opportunity to watch British
phenomenon Lewis Hamilton pursue his winning
streak in a way that is truly "larger than live"! As an
added bonus, the race action will be uninterrupted
by commercial breaks.

Tickets for the unique broadcast event on Sunday 8
July are available now from www.myvue.com, or by
calling 08712 240 240, or directly from participating
cinemas. Only 7,000 seats are up for grabs at £15
each. Family tickets are also available from £30* -
the action starts at 12.45pm.

Every Vue ticket holder will receive a free official
race program (which normally costs £10), plus a
soft drink and popcorn. Vue audiences will also be
able to enjoy all the action of the Grand Prix in the
luxury and comfort of spacious, stadium seating,
conveniently located at a local multiplex. The live
race broadcast is the result of a groundbreaking
global partnership between Vue and Supervision.

the full excitement of the British Grand Prix on
massive screens with superior quality sound and
images. Our race coverage will be live and
non-stop, with no advertising breaks, so fans won't

It appears to me that ITV is loosing it's grip on F1, which in some ways is not a bad idea because who ever takes over the rights in 2009 will certainly kick 'the cock' into touch, so we only have another 1 and half seasons to live with his mind numbing shite that comes out of his mouth.

One other thing, £200 for a grand stand seat at Silverstone to see only a small portion of the race, of £15 to watch it all in the comfort of your own chair, sounds good, shame they are not showing it in MK

True, but at home you just don't get the "oomph" that a good cinema can provide in terms of atmosphere and sound. But I can imagine everyone walking out if the brits suffer early retirements.

I'd love to see Le Mans in a cinema.

Is it REALLY the first time in F1 history that a Grand Prix has been shown live in a cinema?

The technology to show live TV broadcasts on big screens has been around for decades. I seem to recall that some cinemas showed the Indianapolis 500 live in the 1960s.
I know boxing matches have been shown in cinemas too.

Now I wonder if they will show the live timing alongside? I expect not unless they have done another deal. Alternatively a wireless internet connection so I can take the laptop in with me...

Emailed a link to this thread to my wife and she's just emailed back to say that she's booked a family ticket at £30 for me, her and the lad.

I think I'll take the laptop with me and the Vodafone cellular modem and chance my arm for Live Timing.

I'm unconvinced that it can possibly be shown in HD - the world feed might be 16:9, but it's still an SD feed.

Yeah I thought this. To hear an F1 car through a decent cinema system... almost like being there, with a heavier wallet.
