Steve was placed in Class A for points purposes as thats where he's registered and the car is under the class limit.

well ok so there isnt actually a limit for A but never mind hehe

You'll just have to beat him to make sure next time...evil

There isnt anything laid down anywher so its open to interpretation, looking at whats been done in the past by whoever is compiling the tvrcc results. Thats not a great situation so I'm addressing a couple of issues and will document after talking to everyone, for future events...

How we define the number of cars in a class is also one that needs defining, entrants, qualified or physical starters in each race. This has an effect on points as they drop if there is less than 3 in a class.

Another is the classification criteria for finishing. At some circuits they seem to apply the minimum percentage of the overall race winners laps, at other they dont. Should we simply take the results sheet as issued by the circuit, or do we take it that if you cross the line after the flag you've finished, or do we use a more multiclass friendly percentage, perhaps even different for each class. Its more of an issue as we're multi-class.

As opinions can be clouded by a gain or loss in points, decisions or changes will apply to future rounds..

Cheers G

Treating them as separate issues... as has been done in the past.

Its quite easy to come up with an argument for many different interpretations, as nothing is documented. So a decision was made. As i said This need to be addressed and will be clarified for future rounds so there is no interpretation.

Also its not a Championship..............................................................

I have also picked up the strange situation arising from Pembrey and have exchanged e-mails on this with Graham.

Without elaborating, you score points in the class to which your CAR belongs, so an A Class car scores in Class A, a B Class car scores in Class B etc. That is the whole point of class racing.

If a driver switches classes by using a different car he scores in the class in which that car is eligible.

In my 28 years of racing this has always been the case.

If you wanted to formally move classes ( rather than use a lower powered car as a one off)
we'd have to split the points which is a pita.

You'd be listed in Class B with the Points you earned there and in Class A for anything you earn subsequently. Your overall Standing would be calculated separately from the two added together.

This was done when Steve Lewis Moved Classes in 2004. There is/was also a rule about only being able to move classes once. This was to stop someone hopping classes to manipulate things to take the overall title. i.e this would have been quite simple with a turbo car to lower or increase the boost to fit into different class at different races.

So nothing is ever simple bangheadhehe

We have had a lower classed car substituted for a higher powered one in the higher class before.

Right. Before I start this isn't a personal dig at anyone I am not in possession of all the facts, just an observation.
Steve raced my car because his is still broken. He only wants to race, which he hasn't done much of for a few years due to p**s poor car prep. He doesn't give a monkeys about trophies or points as indeed I don't. I lent him the car on a "bend it, mend it" basis because he is a very good mate of mine. I was at work and he wasn't so there you have it. If anyone feels aggrieved and hard done by after Pembury give him a call and I'm sure he will deliver the trophy and any wrongly allocated points back to whoever they belong to. As Graham said, its not a championship so as neither of us are challenging for anything apart from a bit of fun this year, grow up.
Oh, and while I'm on a roll, I've read with interest the various methods by which the regs should be manipulated so that the pot hunters can prevail. I feel sorry for the 2.8 V6 Tasmin drivers who won't have a hope in hell as there won't be a class for them. V8s in class C is a no brainer. If I had a V8 that was on a par with a 2.8 or 2.9 V6 I'd commit hari kari if I'd built it or be on the phone to my engine builder asking for my money back. Anything above 200bhp at the wheels should not be in class C, and I stress at the wheels. All this b******s about at the flywheel is just that. If it's not done on a dyno with the engine out of the car you're just guessing. I always quote my power to anyone who asks, truthfully, and at the wheels. Not -10% for this or -20% for that. I know what power I have at the wheels and it is within the class B limit, just, and yet I am blown away on the straights by "bog standard" Rover V8s but I have never complained. If I beat these "class leading" cars then I am more than satisfied at the end of the day and I don't give a flying **** about a trophy or points.
As for data loggers, we had a situation a few years back, allegedly, in the Tasmin challenge where the person policing the data logger information, 220bhp at the wheels for what was then the power class, class B, later put his car on ebay as 400hp, as last raced. Needless to say you can guess where the Championship trophy went that year. Nothing is perfect.
Perhaps we should adopt a handicap system for next year where the slowest car from the previous meeting is the benchmark and all cars that beat it start off in reverse order with a time handicap to suit. At least then the last lap should be a cracker.
I was hoping to get to Rockingham to kick some V8 butt, but unfortunately as previously stated I am at work for all the rest of the TVR meetings.
Maybe I should start a thread on conspiracy theory.

Have fun at Cadwell. It is my favourite track. As a benchmark I went round there in 1m 40s last year, in a very good friends road car. Mind how you go.
Warmest Rgds

To be fair to Steve it was My decision after talking to a few peeps and looking at what had been done before, and took the simplest route. In the absence of anything written down there are many interpretations that could be used I took one of the possibles. If people feel we need a more structured approach more than happy to formulate this for future races,as I feel there are some other areas of ambiguity..

and i do this for fun rolleyes

Real Pity you cant make Rocks Tim, maybe there'll be a anglesey end of term meet where we can catch up..

Hopefully Graham. We had a really good weekend there with the Northern saloons crowd. Both the circuits we used were interesting. Don't go there with iffy brake pads though. They won't last the weekend.
Rgds Tim.
