As I have mentioned and others on many threads here, they need to stop focussing on aero in the way they are. Everyone seems to agree that the reason there is little wheel 2 wheel racing is the air flow behind a car is fecked up by all the crap winglets and other aero devises that modern day cars seem to be wearing.

I liked the idea someone posted the other day that the engineers should come up with a set of 3 or 4 standard front/rear wings for all teams that allow teams to dial into different circuits but which do not create so much 'dirty air'. By having a selection allows teams to attack races with different strategies, and maybe even make mid-race changes at least with the front wings when pitting to spice up the action. This would also require complete ban of all extra winglets and other aero devises on the car so that we can create as smooth a flow of air off the back as possible.

THE FIA SAYS: "But more radical than that proposal is one to make it mandatory for the ride height of the car to be adjusted during races to ensure that cars can easily overtake their rivals."

Hang on, IIRC is this not what active suspension did in the late 80's early 90's? Was this not banned for safety reasons scratchchin

THE FIA SAYS: "The FIA said it believed the most likely future engine will be a 1.3-1.5 litre 4-cylinder, with no rev or energy boost limit."

What the FECK are these guys on yikes

Getting a sense of De Ja Vu here.......

Active suspension, moveable aero, ground effects, 1.5 litre Turbos.......

scratchchin

Hang on we've gone back to the late 70's early 80's.

One question though - what's plasma generation???????

Aero is the biggest enemy of close racing....get rid of it i say.

I must admit i thought the idea proposed a while back (by Mosley i think) was quite interesting.

The idea was that each driver got a race in each car. The constructors championship would be just that, it would no longer have anything to do with the drivers as each car would have been driven at some point by every driver. That way we couild see who built the best car not which is the best driver/car combination.

The drivers get to have a chance at scoring points in every car, so the guy with the best catr does not always win as everybody has a chance in the best car and the worst car etc

It will never happen but it could make every race a must see because each of the drivers would be paired with a different driver each weekend.......Hamilton /massa in the red bull one weekend and Hamilton/Button in the ferrari the next.

I think it would be ace thumbup

And at the end of the season the best car would have a lot more points than the best driver.

I'd like to see a return of real cars with a limit to all the electrikery. A proper manual gearbox, limited aero aids and a return to full slicks.

If we're going back to the late 70's might as well do it properly!

Can the drivers all have long hair and have a bit of personality again? Hard partying, cigar smoking womanisers? Those were the days...

Apart from the womanising, I do believe you're asking me to become an F1 driver! yikes

Horrendous idea - who'd pay the drivers if not a team?

You'd also have to ensure that there's no development of the car between the start and end of the season or it'd penalise a driver who had a deficiant car early on in the season.

It would be interesting though from a 'levelling' perspective but there are plenty of single-make/chassis formula out there for that...

Here, here

Though I doubt McLaren would let 'the chosen one' fit your idea of a real racing driver hehe

You mean like the 4 cly, 1500 bhp BMW F1 engines of the 1980s?

We get the fact that you don't like F1 - why don't you stop trolling every F1 thread and do something more productive instead?

I would imagine the sponsors would pay the drivers, they do indirectly (or directly in some cases) anyway.

All cars would be constantly developed, so that would even out over the season anyway.

The problem with one make series is it does not allow us to see who builds the best cars, although i guess we know that anyway, its the team that attracts the best drivers....but who are they....ahhhhhh....my head.

Actually I love F1 and most forms of motor sport.

It's called freedom of speech here in the UK. You don't have to agree with everything I or others say, or follow the party line. It's what makes this country great for those who enjoy it biglaugh

It's hardly a level playing field - lets imagine that Honda produced a dog of a car that was 3 seconds off the pace. Half-way through the season they hit it right and gain 2 seconds back on the field. That's a huge hit on the unlucky drivers.

Would make for interesting challenges - some teams will opt for hugely powerful but fragile engines, others for reliability.

I actually think that of all the FIA suggestions for 2011 the 50% downforce is just what the sport needs. maybe with slick tyres...

OK I will accept your point on the older engines, but even you must agree there is something special about the sound of an F1 grid full of V10's and V12's

I don't see the point of these new 'cost saving' rules. The end result will be that whenever these rules come into effect, (assuming they actually work) a smaller proportion of Vodafones marketing budget is given to Mclaren.

Neither to I, that's the biggest rub!!

Despite Mr Moxley's goal of reducing money in spent in F1 over the last 10 or so years, I'd be surprised if teams budgets have got any smaller over that time. They simply spend the money somewhere else.

Let's focus on a bloody good set of rules that all the teams agree on and then say spend as much as you like. The smaller teams will complain, but hey this is the Pinnacle of motor sport. If you don't like it, get out.

Williams and Renault have shown you don't have to be the biggest spenders to win and Toyota have also shown us that all the money in the world still won't gaurantee you victory.

Max, get off your money saving crusade and let's get back to racing.
