Do you think this is the setup they use when they talk about simulators back at the factory??? As much fun as it is, it's hardly comparable to the real thing is it?

1 minute 11 - the nearest the finalists could get was 1.18 - interesting to watch him in the car - massive concentration...I don't know if he had driven the course before, but he was using all of the track and kerbs but very smooth indeed. Wurz took the rallycross line.

The simulators at the factory are, I believe more sophisticated! Although I did spot a room at Enstone kitted out wth screen, a steering wheel bolted to a table and....an ofice chair (on wheels) set up in front of it....!perhaps Flav spent all the simulator allowance on his "bedouin" style office (yes, really!)

I also got a reaction from Rosberg when I asked him whether he should be signing Toyota cards....I have a feeling that they might poach him when he's out of contract, in exchange for free engines to Williams perhaps (or indeed as part of the deal to buy a share in the team, which I wouldn't rule out either)

I hope not - that'd be the end of a really promising career. I think his dad would have something to say about that, too.

1 min 11 - someone has been practising! It's such a long lap you'd need some prior knowledge of where the track is going to set such a fast time. Regardless, makes my 1,26 look very poor!

Trust me it's nothing like the one in the factory, I was involved in the design & testing.

Fictional track not sure if corners are copies of real ones, didn't recognise them.

Would have been surprised if it was a similar setup to the factory's, good fun and probably useful for learning the corners on a track but little else.

Classiccooper - would be keen to know more about the pukka setups and what exactly the teams expect to get out of them, is it just to familiarise new drivers with the cockpit of an F1 car and new circuits or is it considered a serious substitute for testing on any level?
