Hopefully a quick simple question. I want to add an Anderson jack to the race car. Is it legal to wire this straight to the battery, or does it have to be wired "downstream" of the electrical master switch?

Downstream,

The kill switch must kill every circuit with the exception of a fire extinguisher, as I understand it anyway.

Cheers, is it a circuit though? The flip side though is I could just plumb it straight into the starter as that's where the current needs to be, its just not as quite a neat installation as right next to the battery.

Blue Book Section Q8 "The circuit breaker, when operated must isolate all electrical circuits with the exception of those that operate fire extinguishers" is a wire going to an external jump plug a circuit?

Ring a scrutineer ?

Best to get is correct 1st time around, thinking about it its probably OK to go straight to the starter or battery but probably don't always get past the scrutineer.

Cheers. Straight to starter means the wires to the boost plug are isolated by the kill switch and sidesteps the circuit issue altogether. I'm not doing it for a couple of weeks, so I should be at a track before then and I'll try to remember to pop into the Scrute shed while Im there.

strictly speaking the plug is for a battery (slave) thus is should be on the bettery side of the cut-out...

The kill switch just isolates the earth circuit of the battery. The only time the jump battery is in operation is whilst the car is stationary, so whilst it's running in the event it doesnt matter how it was wired in as it's not there, scrutineering only checks the kill switch in isolation of the jump battery.

You just need to wire it in parrallel to the onboard battery, if you wire the earth side of the jump to chassis earth the electrics will be powered whilst the kill switch is off, if you wire it to the battery side of the kill switch the electrics wont be powered unless the kill switch is on.
