More frantic F3 action this weekendAfter 10 rounds of the 2007 Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series Marko Asmer has taken six victories. The Estonian currently holds a commanding 51 point lead over Britain’s Sam Bird, but with 42 points on offer over a race weekend nothing can be counted as certain in British F3.
Engel will be after Asmer againOther contenders for the top step of the podium include Raikkonen Robertson Racing’s Stephen Jelley, Jonathan Kennard and Atte Mustonen, all of whom have proven they are capable of posting fastest race time and pole positions - they ‘just’ need to convert their pace into a race winning performance.

More frantic F3 action this weekend
Six podiums in the last six races, including victory on the streets of Bucharest in May, has vaulted Formula Renault graduate Sam Bird up the championship table in his rookie season. Bird holds a six point advantage over his Carlin Motorsport team mate Maro Engel, the German driver spectacularly returning to form at Monza with two poles, a win and a second place behind Asmer in round 10.
Ireland ’s Niall Breen is the other race winner in 2007 and the young driver from Dundalk has taken to Formula 3 with ease and should be a factor this weekend.

In the National Class the ding dong battle for the championship lead between Sergio Perez and ‘Frankie’ Cheng continued at Monza, with the Mexican taking a clean sweep of pole positions, fastest laps and race wins. Expect more battles between the two at Brands Hatch this weekend.
Round 11 is due to get underway at 11:10 on Sunday 15th July with Round 12 at 16:00 the same afternoon.

Alex Waters will be driving car 34, the CLIC Sargent Dallara in the National class.
The Royal Albert Hall played host to this year Grand Prix Ball, with music acts such as Lemar and Beverley Knight playing and special performances from Run DMC and the Geisha meant it was set to be an amazing night of entertainment! During the evening, which took place on Friday evening (6th July), Alex took centre stage and spoke alongside other speakers and singers including names like Barry McGuigan, Ronan Keating, Mica Paris and ITVs Britains Got Talent star, Paul Potts.
Over £1.2m was raised during the course of the evening, with £180,000 being raised due to Alex's speech and the totally unique lot of drawing he donated to the auction, in aid of CLIC Sargent and his motor racing career.
Alex wants to thank everyone who was involved with organising the event, all the guest who put money forward on the night with special thanks to all Formula 1 drivers in the 2007 championship, Matt Bishop of F1 Racing and Haymarket, Eddie Jordan, David Cowhan from Flag in the Sand, and Kevin Standford of All Saints fahion label for their incredibly generous donations to Alex and CLIC Sargent for/during this event.
Waters is a promising young racing driver - but, more specifically in terms of his involvement with CLIC Sargent, he had been diagnosed with cancer himself 3 years." said Jordan, who himself is one of the sport's most colourful characters, and his Jordan Grand Prix team won four world championship grands prix between 1998 and 2003. It races on in Formula 1 today, under the name of Spyker.
However, he is now in remission, and says: "I'm one of the lucky ones. It looks like I've beaten cancer. Now I hope to emulate Lewis Hamilton by getting to Formula 1. But, along the way, I want to help other cancer-affected youngsters. To that end, I'm giving 50 per cent of all my sponsorship money to CLIC Sargent this year, so that other children and young people can can live their dreams as I'm living mine."
The staff of F1 Racing magazine (the world's best-selling grand prix magazine, published by Haymarket Consumer Media Ltd) were so impressed with Waters's fortitude and generosity, that the magazine's editor in chief, Matt Bishop, decided to donate to Waters a series of unique caricature drawings, commissioned by the magazine earlier this year (and due to be published in the August issue, on sale July 24).
The caricature drawings were drawn and autographed by each and every 2007 Formula 1 driver, all 22 of them; each driver drew a caricature drawing of his team-mate (eg, McLaren-Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton drew his team-mate Fernando Alonso, and in turn Alonso drew Hamilton; Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen drew his team-mate Felipe Massa, and in turn Massa drew Raikkonen).
They raised the magnificent sum of £120,000 Sterling. With an additional £60,000 being added by Managing director of All Saints fashion label and Karen Millen for the rear wing of Alex's car, to take the total raised to £180,000!
Lewis Hamilton said: "I met Alex Waters during the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend, and thought he was a great lad. I wish him well, and I'm delighted that the Formula 1 drivers' caricature drawings raised such a large sum to help Alex, and other cancer-affected young people, chase their dreams as I'm chasing mine."
Eddie Jordan said, "Alex is a very brave lad and a very promising driver. And it's fantastic that he's donating half his sponsorship money to CLIC Sargent. He deserves to succeed."
